DJ Shopping Helper Beta

DJ Shopping Helper Beta

I built a free DJ shopping helper and wanted to invite people to try out the Beta and help shape its future. It started out as a personal tool to try and make sense of the huge amount of tracks that come out, but I’ve turned it into something I can share with others. Desktop computer with Chrome is recommended, but I’m working on better mobile support.

www.Dig4Beats.com

Currently covers Beatport, TraxSource, Juno and TrackItDown (DJTunes and others will be added soon). Focus is on speed listening and minimizing the amount of tracks you listen to to find ones you like. It tracks what you listen to and provides a personal “Feed” that tries to balance showing artists you like with artists you haven’t heard yet.

It’s a little rough and is under heavy development, but it works and it’s helped me find more music than I know what to do with.

There’s a Facebook group to join in the discussion, get updates and report any bugs or problems. Ideas for improvement are very welcome.

Looks interesting registered will check out further tonight… What’s the angle though how does it become finically viable from the site owners prospective… Kickbacks from each download site?

What about adding Soundcloud/Bandcamp support? I get LOTS of great, free stuff from Soundcloud.

This would be my 1 stop tool if it supports Soundcloud…

Right now, I’m not sure how I’m going to monetize it… I’m considering trying to actually take money and split the payments out to the sites and keep a small percentage. Not sure how feasible that’s going to be, but I figure that’s the real way to do it rather than some kind of un-trackable affiliate program…

I’m eating the hosting costs at the moment, which is OK, since this is also intended to be a showcase app for my software development business… I do hope to make it profitable eventually though…

yah sc ftw, registered tho

SC if possible, I know their API is a complete bitch to work with, and their search function is total crap, so good luck.

But definitely look into it.

Sounds like an awesome service!

Trying it now. VERY EXCITING!!! The speed of being able to preview tracks is amazing!

Hadn’t really thought about SoundCloud/Bandcamp… Interesting, but I’m focused on online DJ shops… Not sure that Soundcloud or Bandcamp fit what I’m trying to do…

yes very cool ..im loving it

it would be nice to see some hops in the brew tho… hip hop, glitch hop.. hop scotch… that kinda stuff

Soundcloud would be decent but yeah I think affiliate tracked would be nice I’m sure you could figure it out if get lots of traffic and good user base

[Sorry my previous replies got held up in moderation… Hopefully not too confusing that they appear in the thread now…]

Glad you noticed the speed of listening. I’m preloading tracks into the player in the background so it plays immediately. There are some issues occasionally with some sites, so it won’t be flawless at the moment.

I’ll look at adding Hip Hop/Glitch Hop… Any preferred sites? Shouldn’t take me long…

also it would be cool if you could sort by the column headers..

Really cool

registered, it’ll help man

^This is a MUST.

Agreed after playing around on it Colum sort is very important also having it parse bpm and key data would be helpful even a sort option

Ok, so updates…

Hip Hop and Glitch Hop are loading…

Sorting is added, but keep in mind this is only “per page” sorting. It will hold the sorting across various things like Feed, Basket, etc… Each column has a three way toggle of Ascending, Descending, Off…

Just wanted to remind people I added styles and sorting…

People generally like the site, but it’s difficult to get them using it regularly… Trying to figure out a way to give people a head-start… I get incredible results but I also have over 47,000 listens already…

forgot all about this, going back to check out new features… i need some new tunes yay

ok , so diggin on the headers sorting, thanks!

next suggestion would be a searchbox! it would be great if you could type in a track you were looking for and it could bring back results which you could then filter by vendor, remix, price etc.

in the end if you want this to be truly powerful its going to be all about the filtering options..

ie: bring me tracks in the key of (?)
in the genre(s) of (?)(?)(?)
in the bpm range of (?-?)
in the price range of (?-?)

being able to combine and isolate different qualifiers would be amazing

also more vendors

satellite records, soundcloud, amazon…the more the merrier. being able to customize the sources would be amazing too.

sorry just brainstorming… but the concept you have here could really be a weapon if it can be fully exploited!
