Depends on the medication and the type of epilepsy. We got some guests who āsufferā from it, but the LJ can strobo all he want, no fit at all. But then again, those folks have a ligt to mild case, nothing heavy and take medication to prevent it ![]()
Honestly if youāre epileptic DJing would probably not be in your best interest. The same way as being a heavy smoker if you suffer from heavy asthma.
i know an astmatic that somke ha
if you smoke, you become asmatic!
Lifes crazy, people get lung cancer and donāt even smoke a day in their life.
You gotta live like its your last day on earth.
God bless.
I completely disagree.. I was diagnosed with epilepsy when i was 8, and they eventually progressed to grandmal seizures around the age of
12. It all comes down to what the persons triggers are. When you go in and have a full test they hook you up to an EEG and run a bunch of tests: hyperventilation, certain frequencies, stress, lack of slee, AND strobe light at different distances from the face at different speeds..
Every epilepsy case is unique and each person has their own trigger or set of triggers that will put the risk of them going into an epileptic attack through the rough, but nothing is fact.
I do know that in my particular case, as long as i take my medication and get sleep I am fine. The only things that have ever brought on seizures for me have been lack of sleep, stress, and not taking my medication..
But yeah, just a little first hand experience for you guys..![]()
Iāve got epilepsy, And it depends on the type of epilepsy you have, photosensitive or not, thankfully i am not.
Was a heartbreaking moment when i was first told i may not be able to be a DJ.
what m00n said.
what is a fit like ?
To be honest, I have no clue!! LOL, I black out and just wake up places (usually on the floor) very disoriented, takes me a few minutes to finally come to thats when I start feeling the repercussions. My head POUNDS with every heartbeat, body feels like i got hit by a freight train, very tired and mentally hazy. Iāve had surgery on both or my shoulders (the left one iāve had 2 and the right is about to join the list for a 2nd also..) from having too many seizures when i was younger and would always forget to take my medicine..
$2000/month just for medicine is a bitch, especially when its something that your stuck taking for life!! But its better then seizures and surgeries!
2000! Holy balls
people can swallow their tongue from a fit ?
Negative. Thats what that little piece of skin connected to the bottom of your tongue is for.
I guess since we are all in the club scene i should give you guys some things of what to do and what not to do if someone is having a seizure..
DO NOT STICK ANYTHING IN THE PERSON MOUTH.
This is an old wives tale. people said that we could swallow our tongues but its impossible, worst thing we can do is bite our tongue.
Roll the person on their side and do not stick anything in their mouth. Epileptics are sometimes known to vomit during a seizure so anything blocking the airway could cause asphyxiation.
Do not try to restrain the person or hold them down, at most place something soft underneath their head to keep them from slamming it against the floor if it isnāt carpet.
Basically other then that its just common sense. Get anything that could harm them out of their hands or the way and get them on the ground or large couch if possible!
thanks ^ sound advice its nice to know this stuff ⦠id have probly gone for two spoons

Very interesting thread with resources that may save a life. Thank you.
Anytime guys, glad I could contribute more then just nonsense to the site.. ![]()
A good mate of mine has epilepsy and i have been with him a few times when he has had seizures, the first time i was terrified and had no idea what to do, best thing to do is keep calm and make sure he his safe.
Must say the worst time iāve had one was christmas gone by going through a very busy Birmingham airport, Woke up and got escorted straight onto my plane. I didnāt even know where i was 'til i was taking off to be honest. Iāve been lucky to only ever bite my tongue at worst.
+1 on what m00n said, Donāt stick anything in an epilepticās mouth, they may break their teeth.
what and how is a fit set like .. i know its from a trigger ?
