I do a lot of gaming and server set up on the net, and for any problems and stuff i find talking to people in either Vent, teamspeak or IRC a great resource. Its great for hanging out, and learning new stuff from friends as you can instantly share hotlinks and advice, as appose to waiting for a forum reply.I thought with the size of the techtools community a lot of people could benfit from the social and support that a voice server can provide. These servers cost very little ($5-10 a month), irc is free, so any chance of this??.Obviously would need moderators/rules of some kind, but from the forums, the community is very well behaved anyway.
But what about Ventrillo or Teamspeak? i much prefer voice servers myself.
If you have never heard of these, its basically a chatroom you can speak in.It has different channels, which are basically conference calls using v.i.o.p (voice over internet protocol). So 100 ppl can be talking in different channels, these can be passworded or have privalidges attached or both.So you can split them into subject, ect.Vent and Teamspeak both have their pro’s n con’s, its preference really.
