Do Whistle samples piss anyone else off?
I dunno what it is, but whenever I’m listening to a tune, and they blast in with a whistle sample, that’s it, I’m done with it. Maybe its just me…
haha the ones that get on my nerve are sirens rofl that stuff just drives me mad… People tend to drop them alot in dnb… why do you even need a siren or horn going off in the middle of a track it has nothing to do with it 
yeah, sirens can be kind of annoying, but sometimes theres a good use for em I guess… but whistles, HELL NO.
Maybe this comes from playing too much DDR as a kid… freaking whistle song.

That gives me a great idea. Anybody got an inverted whistle sample? gotta go layer it over all those tracks.

im one of the younger generations lol so iv never seen that must of been painful to the ears i can imagine??
some mixers come with sirens/bombs built in. i think one i saw was a vestax.. -_-
I was SO glad when that finally phased out, San Francisco from 93’-98’ had about 20 whistle blowers per party, and they always had to be near the DJ, like they thought he wanted to hear them or something.
old WW2 sirens can sound dope in the right spot, breakdown, climax, intro etc… but they get way over done.
As do I.
Truth be told, I’m guilty of it. Though, to be fair, so did everyone else back then.

in the NY rave scene whistles are insanely annoying especially at event like Candy Ball, I think its primarily happy hardcore though, I would lol really hard if someone blew a whistle at a hardstyle event lol. Im bringing a whistle to ShowTek this weekend woot!

I think horns and whistles make a crowd noise sound amazing. Like when you listen back to a recorded set with crowd noise.
But apart from the odd time, when it’s done well, they rarely work in tunes.
91-94 raving whistles and horns were all the rage. I didn’t mind em as long a you weren’t standing next to some one who was trying to hum along with the track with one.
The odd blast was alright but when people started thinking they were adding to the tune with their little ditty… that used to drive me mad
Nothing worse than standing next to someone with a whistle or an air horn! on top of that cutting shapes with their white gloves and glow sticks >.< so passe and so long ago!
as for Horn and Whistle samples, depends how they are used, some awful some not
