Drugs and Music. Is it everywhere?

Seems unfair to shut something down just because it’s mildly successful with the ladies?

This is not the place to talk about your previous love life.

Drugs are everywhere. It’s an honest fact that because of laws, is pushed underground by the establishment. While it’s not an issue that ever wants to be recognized, HUMAN SOCIETY ITSELF was founded on the basis of making booze. It’s not going anywhere, the war on drugs is only pushing the money into the hands of corrupt individuals outside of the law, and people are still doing what they’ve always been doing, fucking themselves up.

Last night I went to a show. Albeit, the turnout was almost nothing, but I really wanted to see the DJ/Producer spin (Calvertron). Within a minute of the show, I had access to drugs. It was and is easier than going to the bar and buying a drink, although more expensive.

MDMA is too extreme for me.

Drugs are not exclusive to the music scene. But party drugs are more prevalent here. Perhaps you’re just meeting people from a different culture for the first time - don’t take it as a shock that they do other stuff than you do

Great post by the way

Cheers dude.

I don’t think I’m saying it’s because they are illegal. I guess I feel that when I’m dancing in a club and having a good time and doing it sober that when I have mates that say “I don’t know how you manage to do it man”, or ones that HAVE to take something on a night out. I find it a little sad. But of course I know no different. I’m a person who doesn’t care what people think. So if my dancing is stupid or something I honestly don’t care.

I went to Westfest last year. I have never been to a rave night like it before as I’m more of a Download person lol. But my friends were freaking out about getting searched. Then I’m thinking great they might get caught and refused entry then I have wasted money on a ticket. Then when I do get in and get to one of the stages within 5 minutes I have people coming up to me asking if I’m selling or buying. This happened throughout the night and it did start to wizz me off after a while.

Trying to keep it to the music side though. I was thinking that what if I wanted to collaborate with someone. What if they had to be on something while working. I don’t think I could do that. What is that someone was… I don’t know… Daft Punk. I think I would be pretty bummed out. I don’t even know why I would.

I’ve been in the DJ’ing game since 1977.

I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t do drugs.

I do however smoke miniature cigars and can honestly say that at the age of 50, starting smoking back when I was 18 is the only regret I’ve had in my life.

I’ve always said that at the end of my life I don’t want to look back and think “I wish”.

Smoking is the one and only thing that “I wish” I hadn’t started.

So much so that I’m quitting for good starting 1st January 2012.

Like others have said before me, if people don’t accept you for who and what you are then they are not worth your time and effort.

I actually lost my ID a few months ago and was shocked at how easy it was to buy drugs compared to buying booze.

Fun is fun, it’s all the stuff in between that gets people worked up.

I don’t do drugs, never even tried marihuana, and I never will. I do smoke, but try to keep it at around 5 cigarets a day. And about drinking…
Serbia was always about 10 years behind rest of the world. Having that in mind, it really isn’t that hard to get any kind of drugs, but suprisingly, not many people do drugs. On the other hand we do drink a lot!
And about the connection between drugs and electronic music, as Ean Golden said in the Message for Mom & Dad: 4 Reasons Why I Want To Be a Controllerist, dj’s are modern guitarists…Drugs took their swing along with popularity of r&r and rock…

I have been a DJ and sound guy for 30 years. tonight I am bringing 6 18" subs and associated tops for a small EDM night. there will be an abundance of drugs.
I have smoked pot, but very very little in the last 30 years. less than once a year since I turned 20. I drink alcohol, but usually only on weekends, and not every weekend. I tried nitrous oxide a couple times. I have not tried any other recreational drugs. none. ever. I do not pretend to. I say “no thanks” if offered. I do not need to explain myself, and I usually do not. if they question me, I tell them I am not a cop, I just dont do it. if they have a problem with it, they can leave. if they try to convince me to try something, and it is an event I am working I will probably have them thrown out. they can do what they choose, and so can I.
I have watched lots of DJ’s and sound guys fail from drug and alcohol use. it has been one of my biggest helps in my career to have others do drugs.
I also never report or turn anyone in for drugs unless they are forcing them on someone, slipping it in drinks, etc.

Guess it’s not just music lol

I’m sure I read somewhere recently the UK takes the most mdma in europe actually.

it’s a good combo. why wouldn’t it be everywhere

Marijuana is not a drug. Also it lets me get deep into music, analyze it and be able to appreciate it on a whole new level. I’m sure many people know what i’m talking about. Plus I have a prescription.

From being into dance music for the past 20years…from that first all night rave to last weekend’s clubbing experience…drugs ARE everywhere..which sometimes ruins the night for me.

Seeing folks crawling up the wall’s or in puddles on the floor (relatively speaking) from that moment , it really gets to me and I start noticing that pretty much the majority are ahem “off their tits”, but for the split second I feel "your missing out on what said dj is dropping (music wise) or tequnique they doing as your eyes are spinning faster than the bpm…

Some moderator input on this would be interesting, what are your thoughts on the fact at least 50% percent of the audience at shows, gigs, club nights are “on one”? That they’re not gonna remember what latest track you played or that trick you performed?

better vibes than the aggro redneck alcohol crowd.

not everywhere http://www.yogarave.org/

haha iatf!

as long as this discussion remains objective i dont see why it needs to be closed.
