Drum & Bass (Clown Step ????)

Drum & Bass (Clown Step ???)

Hi All,

I really like drum and bass but never really follow it to much. I believe the style i like some call clown step. Is that right ?

Its the really fun stuff that really makes you jump and smile when it drops. I can kind of see the clown thing meaning something as its the more party edge stuff compared the seep dark stuff.

Anyway my question is can anyone reccomend me some artists and labels for this style.

Many thanks
Gav

Maybe its not clownstep i like as the wiki states pendulem is clowstep and i reall y dont like pendulum

I think you mean “JUMP UP”

Very old style D&B heavy bass, wobbly and made to make you Jump about like a nut job.

Give us an example of a drum and bass song that your talking about and we will give you the sub-genre that it sits in

Karlos is right jump up

Check out TeeBee, Aphrodite, Dope Skillz, Freestylers, UTI, Zinc, DJ Red,Mickey Finn, Pressure Cru

All old school jump up!
those links sound like newer jump up. i havent really stay up with this genre too much. but you will definitely like some of those artists.

Hahah nice vids man.

Heres a decent example of a Jump Up Mix. (7mins 30secs in is a perfect example)

Real simple heavy wobbly basslines. About 3 or 4 notes in a whole tune.

@R2D2, i used to live in Leyton East London . not quite Essex but …

It’s all just Hyper Color know what I’m sayin yo?

Hahaha yes fucking Hyper Colour , woolly hats with tassles and baggy raver pants.

Thats the stuff … many thanks all i will checkout some of them artists.

Yes Karlos .. Jumping round like a nut job to this stuff is great !!

I’m a techno fan myself but love listening to a bit of D&B on a club system. The great thing is you tend to get it in second rooms at a few techno nights i go to Atomic Jam for one

EDIT > I love alot of Ed Rush & Optical stuff

Ed Rush and Optical produce neurofunk predominantly, sure thats not what your into ?

Here’s a pretty tasty example of a neurofunk track by spor -

I was born down the road from there in Barking

my fav Ed Rush and Optical track

:sunglasses: anything on Ram records btw you will most prob love

Hmmmm its ok .. not the best thing ive heard though

[/quote]Like this still not fully jump around like a mad man though. Some of the rush and optical stuff in Beatports Top 10 are pretty damn good! They are actually dominating it like hell to.

EDIT > Just noticed Beatport have a Jump Up beatport section … looks like this is the kind of stuff i’m after  many Thanks for your time all … any reccomendations though stick them in here.

Cheers
Gav

Have a listen to this mr mole

These are all my own tunes i released on my label (fresh kutt records) back in 97/98
the original jump up style

be quick tho this link will only last for a week !!!

Jumpup smashers atm are Tantrum Desire (tune: ready to go). DJ Fresh (tune: Heavyweight) is another.

DJ Hype is the godfather of Jumpup (Ganja recordings etc). Then theres Hazard, Distorted Mindz, Dirty Harry, Twisted Individual etc etc.

Not the hugest fan myself as its cheesy as fuck. But it fucking smashes dancefloors.

Lol disagree!

If heavy weight is anything jumpy its jump down.

The Alternative (Barons Alias)
Anything on Ganja Recordings
Zinc and Most things on Bingo
Earlier Break Beat Kaos
DJ Hazard
Wickaman and his partners in crime

Check out labels like "Audio Porn, Black Widow, Infrared, BBK, Baron Inc, Stereotype, Dreadnaught, Ganja, Bingo.
