I hoping that I am not the only person guilty of this… But what I am wondering is, when you have had a few to drink and really get into that groove and lay down an ALMOST perfect CD, but dont remeber how you did it. Is there a way to master out the small F up’s? I so hope that I am not the only person that ever does this!! lol
Jester, I feel ya there until I record my shit and listen to it the next day!! Most of the time is freakin killer execept for a few spots, and that is what I am wondering about how to fix, cause at that point I dont remeber what I did
seriously though, there is a fine line between getting relaxed and getting your groove and making stupid noobish mistakes (i’ve been doing this 8 years and still get that confused drunken look when i forget the fader is over the other side)
Love the times that you’re so pissed drunk that everyone on the floor is covering their ears for the massive train wreck you’re producing while you think you’re making the best transition of your life…
Lug, I’m not going to waste an hour of my life listening for someone else’s screw ups…but if you want to point out where the fuck-ups are, I’ll listen to those
In answer to your original question…yes. You can fix a lot. But it basically involves cutting out the bad section or doing a punch-in with a DAW to re-do that section of the recording…which has its own complications…not the least of which is that you kind of need to beat-match (or at least phase-match) the audio manually and pretty reliably. But it really depends on how bad the mistake was.
I find it’s usually easier to just re-record if I really cared about that particular set.
Also…if you use Ableton, it helps to record the automation data instead of the audio…but that’s not really possible if you’re using an external mixer or with basically any other software.
Drag the mix into a deck in traktor and beat match to the mix you want to replace. Re record the mix. Splice in using audacity or my preferred editing software adobe soundbooth.
Tip, zoom into the wave form large so you get an exact edit point match and use markers on the edit points so you can check back the edited section(s)
its really good, when i see people mix live on soundcloud i expect some minor things. if not i expect it to be planned out and rehearsed multiple times or studio mixes.
