mixing dubstep is easy. but it all depends on track selection.
protip: make all your tracks in the 140s. not the 70s. i made that mistake and now some of the beat counts are off and stuff i need to get all my songs, dump them in 1 folder. wipe traktor and re grid some of them. too bad my comp is so disorganized :S
never heard truer words. mixing dubstep is deff all about good selection
if natgeo would come and inspect my macbook it would deff make it onto horders. fuck if i know whats actually really on there (HD is almost full yet i have no idea where all the space went.
My collection is actually stellar. And my collection is brutally neat and organized. It’s more of a matter of not having good hardware/software to mix with, rather than not having tune selection.
Hoping on my buddies decks for awhile on NYE, and looking forward to blasting them with some tunes I know they haven’t heard (most of them are DnB/House guys/girls). Dubstep just rocks my world, all the time.
But equipment shall be… equipped once the tax return rolls in. And I CANNOT wait. Just figuring out WHAT is the issue.
But man, some really good stuff coming out lately.
@BigC: Just practice, practice, practice and do what feels right! Listen to the mixes of others including artists whose work you like to figure out what about the mixes makes you like them and try to take inspiration from them. Post mixes for feedback etc. (I’m almost always up for listening to a dubstep mix). If this dubstep mix battle becomes a monthly thing be sure to enter it whenever possible cause you’ll get practice and feedback… and possibly internet glory
