I know I announced on here that I would be travelling to BPM and performing but due to a medical procedure (ACL replacement) I wont be able to travel as planned.
Sorry guys, I really love meeting out readers and forum members- as you all totally rock but this trip ended being impossible with the surgery.
Endemic in most contact sports - in South Africa rugby is the culprit. Astroturf (not common in SA) a contributory factor due to it’s lack of ‘shear’ as a player changes direction. Injury is due to load or impact with the knee in full extension, as this is when the ACL is under most tension. Snow skiing is one of the most common causes of rupture, as the ski bindings result in the transfer of excessive force to the knee. Rupture of the ACL only is relatively straight forward, but if the Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) and meniscus are in volved it gets tricky. I have put one of top rugby players back on the field, a male principal ballet dancer back on the stage and one of our top ice hockey players (we SUCK at the game) back on the ice. There’s hope for Ean (or Mr. Golden as he is referred to in one of the posts).
^This and your your injury makes me sad, hope the injury doesn’t stick to ya. Make sure you attend some physical therapy though, if the therapist are even decent it can make a huge difference .
+1 on this one - 20yrs of Rugby means I was well known to most of the physios in the area, and they’ve patched me up more tmies than I care to remember.
Also if no one has mentioned it yet, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM will help out tons with your recovery. All 3 are non steroidal anti-inflammatories, as well as precursors to cartilage and synovial fluid. Take all 3 together for the best results.
