My names Kuri;
I’m an aspiring female dubstep Dj from Florida.
I started spinning thanks to my boyfriend whose skills I can only hope to meet someday.
Unlike most, I never assumed me having any sort of musical talent as a postulate. Unintentionally I opened yet another creative outlet for myself that seems to be transpiring in more positive ways than I had ever envisaged.
I joined this community with the prospect of circulating good music, (while hoping that some would eventually be my own), to keep updated on the current launches, and to simply engage myself in creditable conversations about music.
With any luck, my ingression will be a positive experience.
Well, I just started spinning honestly about two months ago.
That said, the progress i’ve made has more than enlivened my creative side.
Currently I’m messing around with FLS again in attempts to start producing.
(Yes, I’m aware FLS tends to be a joke to most people), but as soon as I get a better handle on it I have a feeling some pretty filthy tracks are going to be brought about.
:] So, eventually yes, I’m confident I’ll begin producing seriously.
Skream was, and maybe still is, using FL. I wouldn’t worry about it. From what I hear it has improved greatly and is up there with ableton and logic. I’ll be looking to jump into FL sooner or later when my life slows down.
Yeah, I know how it is. I go to cosmetology school 33 hours a week.
I still find the time to work on music, art,Synth dreads, and graphic design.
Dx It’s rough but more than worth it.
So, presently your only mixing? If so, is dubstep your paragon music to spin?
Just DJing in my spare time right now. Dubstep is definately my favorite genre at the moment. I’m always on GetDarker watching the big boys spin every Tuesday. But my roots are in house and techno which I revisit every so often when i get sick of the BS surrounding dubstep. I can be all over the map depending on the day.
Ah, much consociated. Thank you-
Just because its at 140 BPM doesnt make it dubstep.
As a DJ I constantly filter through all the bs people try to classify a dubstep because its at a 140bpm.
Same thing with unaffiliated tracks with a wobble thrown over it.
Please go somewhere else with that shit.
Lol, sorry I have this conversation with alot of people actually. It still floors me how offended people get over the subject.
That’s awesome though! I believe everyone should indulge in more than just one genre. I myself am a sucker for HHC and house.
Your theory and outline are actually rather influential.
Upon reading the template I must say I agree with much of what you said. I myself spend monotonous hours separating the hundreds and hundreds of tracks I get together in torrents by the “energy” as you call it, of the songs. Also separating the purely instrumental from the vocal based tracks.
The problem I was attempting to convey was more along the lines of the lack of the genre’s original feel. Alot of new artists veer from the common “filth” while also neglecting the minor keys and dissonant harmonies. Simply bringing a oscilation to 140 bpm and occasionally throwing a twangy wobble over it just doesn’t suffice for me D:
Please don’t take the things I’m saying in a negative manner, after all I am a Dubstep enthusiast and I enjoy almost any sounds.
