This is a VCI-100 SE with the arcade mod. The left channel fader is sketchy – its movement is fine but it’s sending out choppy MIDI so that Traktor responds unpredictably – if I move the fader from the closed position to all the way open in one movement, Traktor responds with a choppy jump up and down and back up again, sometimes shivering somewhere in the middle for a while and never making it to the top. Is there some kind of easy fix for this or do I need to get it looked at?
Are there instructions somewhere on cleaning the fader? I have some lube that I use on my Rane TTM56 faders; can I just use that? Does that require me to remove the faceplate or can I shoot some in the opening? (I assume making sure the connection is solid does require removing the plate?) The rig is pretty much brand new so I’m reluctant to go at it with a screwdriver just yet …
I have this exact same problem after upgrading to Traktor Pro 1.2, I used potentiometer lube on my faders thinking they where dirty. it seems to go away after a few tracks.
good news, once i cleaned and re-lubricated the fader the erratic midi messages being sent by the faders stopped all together.
what i did was detach the faders from the vci. then i used a small paper clip wrapped with medical gauze and wiped the inner surface removing residue dust. then applied an extremely small drop of motor armature lube. your fader lube should do fine.
sweet! I managed to do pretty much the same by letting a tiny bit of lube drip in the crack, without taking the top off. I’m sure it’s not a big deal to take the top off but I just wasn’t ready to do that yet. Works fine now
