ever thought of wiping all music and starting again

ever thought of wiping all music and starting again

beatunes 3.5 has ^%$# bpm detection so instead of sorting them all out again im am triming my h/d to a bare min .. only must haves stay

have you ever thought thats is im starting over ?

I’ve wiped my Traktor Library and started from scratch once before. But no way am I deleting my hard drive lol. I need that for weddings or the occasional strange must-play request.

I went on a culling spree a few months ago and weeded out everything (apart from some impossible to find classics) that weren’t 320kbps, all chart music (top 40 rubbish) and basically that I honestly felt just didn’t sit right with me and never will …

Just went one-by-one deleting them from iTunes, it took a while and was kinda pissed i’d bought so much crap on beatport but I was about 10 or 15GB lighter after it all and its much easier to find stuff now.

well thats it outa 500+ songs 60 are left

Have you learned to be more selective?

There’s a mad rush when you start out to build a large library - but when you rush, a lot of crap sneaks it way in.

i have a weekly radio show see, thats why i have so much mediocre

now formating my drive

I just moved the entire iTunes folder from my main HDD to a secondary one, when I re-imported it back into iTunes the rating and smart playlists had been wiped. This is annoying and it’s not even a full library wipe.

I have had a complete wipe though when my last laptop and external HDD died within a week of each other. That was also annoying

No - I only buy music that I like

same here. only started buying mp3’s last year. first bought a bunch of tunes i have on vinyl and then have been very selective of anything else i’ve bought. in fact i’ve only got about 250 tunes total. which seems waaaaaaay less than most people on this forum.

Yes home set contains over 250gb of music I’ve collected since the mid to late 90s and alot of vinyl rips I did in the same era. I regularly wipe my laptops and reload tracks individually
It’s extremely time consuming.

But I think in the end after its worth it since on my server I have it sorted very poorly but when I bring it into itch on laptop I break it down by genre into crates. I then sometimes break it down further by bpm range into crates Should have a reload coming up since library’s getting kind of messy/sloppy

When I first got serious about trying to dj the majority of my collection was stolen or shitty cd rips, so I deleted all that trash and started fresh
