Explorer Replacer v.0.1
I made a small tool for those who want to replace the stock-Explorer with their favourite dj-application.
i downloaded it, but how exactly does it work?
It got 2 buttons
- Click the left one
- choose an .exe-file
- Reboot
- Enjoy
but what purpose would this serve? i can run installer instead of explorer.exe? or traktor on start up?
im confused… i think im missing the point
You can run an alternate filemanager or a DJ app instead of Explorer.
If Traktor crashes it should reload itself (however I didn’t test that).
It’s niché (like a lot of stuff I do), but for a few it will be handy.

No, not really.
Programs like the Total Commander or whatever you like.
Here’s the scenario I created the tool for:
I worked at Innovation-forum which contains a few multitouch tables, touchscreens and a lot more.
Now it destroys the illusion of a futuristic interface if you see plain Windows OS. Therefore I created a custom application-menu and replaced the Explorer with it.
So everytime you start the devices all you see is my cool application chooser.
How would you go about re-enabling explorer.exe?
The application has two buttons. The seconds one does that.
After disabling explorer you can still bring up the taskmanager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and start Explorer or whatever you want manually.
So it’s still running all of the other windows services in the background?
Yeah that is just about the Explorer.
A tool to disable all unnecessary services and stuff for DJing would be cool though, right?
Yeah, but you’d always have services that the program wouldn’t be aware of and keep open.
