External sound card used as monitor

Is it possible to use an external sound card as a monitor? I was planning on buying the audiotrak maya ex5 ce which has a headphone jack built in. If I were using speakers connected to my laptops headphone jack could I connect my headphones to the external sound card and use it as a monitor? My mixer has broken and I wondered whether in the mean time I could utilize traktor pros built in mixer to do this. If this is possible and I’m not talking rubbish could anybody tell me how to achieve this? Cheers guys a step by step guide would be hugely apreciated!!

yes you could using asio4all.

you could also totally leave out the laptop soundcard (which won’t be on par with an external soundcard) and setup the maya to do the main outs to the speakers, and cue using the headphone jack.
