Min wage in the US is $7.25 an hour. Your charging $100 an hour. Do the math.
sorry but i really dont see the issue here, i play a bar on thurs and sun, and a club on fri and sat, although i am never given a set list, i know in myself that there are songs that HAVE to be played. you can still play them in whatever order you like, chop them up, and make them your own. the crowd is guaranteed to love them and lets be honest, at a college gig youre going to end up playing some if not most of them at some point anyway. make the most of the experience
This thread lost my interest after I saw a bunch of complaining and then $300 for 3 hours. Do the gig, end of story. Hell for $300 i’d play requests for the whole damn thing.

Actually its quite the opposite. Its a pre-requisite these days that the organiser of the wedding sends the DJ a list of requests. Most wedding invites (in UK) include a request slip that the invited person and their guest write 2 songs on and its sent with the RSVP.
Wedding, 40th, Sweet 16th, Uni Society whatever, if you are “hired” you play what they want so its ALWAYS better to know what it is that they want. Otherwise you have 4 hours of ear-ache and whining from people.
Even with a comprehensive list you still get moaners. Doing gigs like this should be done on percentages. Play what pleases most of the people most of the time.

especially if that job is sanitation
i think im kinda questioning it because of the fact that im being paid to be a human jukebox and what relevance i have, but yeah i guess i dont have much of a reason to complain haha.
