F#@K hammer in the baby drain

F#@K hammer in the baby drain

You’re sure to get some if you bump this dirty techno mix for your girl. Hell, turn up the bass, and your odds improve that she’ll give up the ol’ dirt road. If not, consider this my version of roses to you on Valentines day, and no… I won’t give you a reach around.

Tracklist + download link = moar listens = moar feedback.

Tracklisting is on Mixcloud. Here is the download link.

Ugh, didn’t realize that with mixcloud’s lol website, you have to hit ‘play’ and seek to the end to get the tracklist.

Would prefer it in this post, but looks interesting, will try to check.

By Eric B. & Rakim

I listened to this mix yesterday while on my lunch break from a music/technology conference. I listened on my earbud headphones, streaming from subsonic, while eating a vegetarian sausage for lunch and drinking two $1.50 pints of Sapporo. Here’s my feedback.

  • Thanks for the tracklist and download link!

  • Tracks were pretty techy, but not as a “hard” as I expected from a post entitled “f#$k hammer in the baby drain.” You mostly avoided the techno pitfalls of “ringy-ringy” or “chugga-chugga” or “steam tunnel.” Not a lot of vocals or bassline leads to grab onto, however, a little “faceless” for me. Decent dynamics in terms of building up and breaking down over the course of the mix.

  • If I never heard “I know you got soul” again in any form, I wouldn’t be sad. But I have to say I feel like it was a nice outro the way you flipped it. “I have a dream” is also played the hell out as an intro/acapella drop.

  • Levels, phrasing and phasing were solid throughout. I presume this was done with sync or equivalent?

Thanks for posting and keep at it!

what?!?

Yeah, I’m tired of it. I don’t want to hear “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” by Pink Floyd again, or that vocal where she’s all “I’ve got something for your mind.. your body.. and your SOUL!” either. Sometimes things, even classic things, get overexposed and need a break…

Forgot about this post. lol. What exactly did you mean by “ringy-ringy” or “chugga-chugga” or "steam tunnel? Also, no sync. It’s just simple A<->B mixing I did for the most part. I’ve been doing it for 15 years, though I am pretty rusty as I’m a little out of practice for good techno and house mixes.

Ringy ringy = ringing 909 open hi hats that dominate the track with their ringy ringy ness.
Chugga Chugga = “tribal” sounding tom abuse that ends up just sorta sounding like a train, chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga
Steam tunnel = WwhwhhhhhooooooOOOOoooooOOOooooOOOoooooooooOOOOsssssHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHH white noise sweeps
