Fastest way to set up Timecode with CDJ’ in a club?
So tonight, for the first time i have someone who i doing a warmup-set for me, im the main DJ of the evening. I was just wondering, what’s the fastest way to set it all up? They got like 800MK2’s and an 800 mixer, my warmup is using CD’s.. i use Traktor Scratch Pro & Timecode, + an Audio 6 soundcard.
Set it up before the warmup guy goes on, use the audio thru of the audio6, then when it’s your turn plug your laptop into the audio6 and switch the channels over one at a time.
Make sure you have all the wires already connected to your soundcard and use labels on both ends of the cables to identify them. Makr the inputs with some fluoresent or white tape so it’s easy to see where the cdj’s should be connected to.
If you’re using 2 decks and so is your warm up dj, connect your soundcard already in the 2 channels in the 800 which he isn’t using. This also gives you the opportunity to start with a song already while hooking up the cdjs to your soundcard.
Have your soundcard ready with RCA’s in the IN port,
disconnect from back of CDJ, put into the OUT in your soundcard and put the IN RCA int the CDJ.
Rinse and repeat.
Dont unplug a live deck.
So what i have to do is ask the warmup to play a longer track, like 8 - 10 min, unplug the CDJ that isn’t playing and plug it to the soundcard, and the output cable, And then start a track from traktor, and then do same thing on the other deck?
Sorry if its confusing
just wondering when the cdj1000mk3 is hooked up thru the digital out (orange cable) - does it also output audio thru the RCAs?
have been seeing a lot of cdjs hooked up to djm800s thru the digital out but always wondered if the audio goes both ways (rca and digital out or just one of em)
