Figuring out a new set-up

Hi all,

I’m new to the forum so I apologize if I made any mistakes, please tell me so I can correct it.

Now on to my need of some advice

Soon I’ll have a budget to upgrade my gear. I currently own a Pioneer DDJ-SR and a Numark 4trak. Both of them are fun to start with, the SR has been taken out to a couple of performances but I feel limited with so it’s time for an upgrade.

I definitely want a 4 deck set up containing 2 x Pioneer XDJ-1000 MK2. I’m still figuring out the 2 extra decks, a mixer and maybe if I stay within budget I could add the RMX-1000.

The mixer and 2 XDJ’s will be on the road sometimes and I prefer not to use a laptop when live performing. I don’t care at home.

Currently I’m thinking mixer: Pioneer DJM-750 -K
2 Channels: XDJ-1000 MK2 x 2
2 Channels: ???

For the two extra channels I’d like to add something more on a budget. Maybe the Traktor X1 MKII, 2 x Traktor D2 or CDJ-350..
The budget in total is 4000 (total budget) - 2600 (2 x XDJ) = €1400,- (left). If it’s really worth it I could get another €1000,-

I’m wondering what your thoughts are on adding 2 extra channels.

How imperative to your mixing are four channels? If it’s not that important, I would suggest putting the expenses towards a better mixer.

also, the 750 (& 850) seem to be at the end of the product cycle. I would expect a revamped version in the coming year.

unless you find the 750 on the second hand market or snag it at a significant discount in the upcoming holiday season, i would shy away from buying the product at MSRP.

Rmx 1000 is a bit over kill if you have a pioneer mixer aswell. If budget can stretch maybe find a djm900, and for the 3Rd and 4Th decks maybe consider the cdj850, 350 or even the 400.

If your getting a rmx why not get something like a xone 92 or even 43?

How importants the 4th deck? Why not just get 3 xdj’s?

Sorry for the late response. I really didn’t think to get any responses that soon!

I’ll be playing as a duo most of the time so a 4 deck set-up is the reason i’m upgrading. I’ve been thinking of 3 XDJ’s for sure. That does rise the price up a bit since I’ll be going for the XDJ 1000 MK2 (Might have to save up for a little more time).

To all:

I’m going to invest some more time investigating if the RMX 500/1000 is really worth it and instead invest in a better mixer or as DJ WadE says, getting a xone mixer.
Thanks a lot for the feedback! I’ll let you guys know what the end result will be!

why not go with 4 xdjs and run in HID?

That would be a budget issue. Maybe when I buy the XDJ 1000 MK1 it could be an option but I’d prefer the newest of the newest

I’d definitely go for a Xone mixer. Maybe worth checking out the PX5, DB2 or 43 pretty sure they’re all in your budget.
