Filter / Latin / Vocal House

Hi Guys,

a question going around my head for some time… I’m looking for the name of three genres. In my head, they are called “Filter House”, “Latin House” and “Vocal House”. Unfortunatelly, searching for these terms yields different results…

Examples.

Filter House for me sounds like e.g.

  • Rockerfeller - Do It 2 Nite (Mario Ochoa Remix)
  • DJ Phats - Gimme The Night (Phats Club Mix)

Latin House for me sounds like

  • Decaff & Roland Clark - Helpless (Hott 22 Isle Heat Remix)

Vocal (?? quite broad) House for me sounds like

  • Hott 22 feat. Angie Zee - Just Friends (Vocal Mix)

When I look for Filter House, I get all kind of “French Touch” stuff ( I guess that’s what it’s called, for example like Daftpunk). Looking for Latin House, I get that “Ragga” Stuff. And I don’t even know how to search for “Vocal House” as that’s essentially every piece of House music with vocals in it.

Do you guys know any sub-genres I could get lucky with? Where should I continue looking?

i know exactly what you’re talking about with the “latin house” stuff. you could try looking at the florida/south american house scene? that’s where a lot of the latin-based EDM music comes from i find. from there though i don’t know what to tell you, sorry :disappointed:

also, if you take the artists you know that make the music you’re looking for, try looking for similar artists on either places like last.fm or even if they have a myspace they usually associate with people like them :wink:
