Only one problem being I didnt actually factor in that it wasnt a PC, so after years and years of using pc’s only i fear its going to be a bit more of a task ditching my old pc habits before i’m a full mac expert.
Only took me about a week to get used to it after like 10 years of shitty pcs. Pretty intuitive and you’ll find a lot of Cntrl + … are replaced with Command + … so short cuts are a pretty easy learning curve.
Other than that, enjoy. And don’t be surprised that in 3 years time it works the same as it does now, only bad thing is excuses for upgrades get a bit scarce!
am i the only one that gets irked at the “mac vs pc” thing?
pc is a personal computer. a mac is a type of pc. windows is an os on a pc.
that being said, just let your brain relax while using the mac. things are much easier to do. installs are quicker, reboots are fewer, and navigation through the file system grows on you. definitely search for a few “must have” mac apps, as there are several threads with many gems in them.
ha! I owned a Mac Mini for approximately 4 weeks… just couldn’t get on with OSX and missed all my strange and esoteric Windows software so I sold it.
Then again, when I installed Windows 7 recently, I spent ages getting rid of all the crap so that it looks as much like Win2K as possible… I prefer to keep things simple.. none of this transparent crap!
I get to shut out the OCD part of me when using OSX. The OCD has come from using Windows PCs since I was six.
You’ll teach yourself how… it comes rather naturally.
If coming from a PC you tend to look for things in OSX where your logical brain tells you it should be, when it’s really where your instincts are telling you it should be. Feels good.
i dont see a major update until mid next year…if anything in oct/nov we will see a processor update of upto .5 ghz which is not a deal breaker. Oh and “maybe” the i3 core in the 13" mbp.
