first gig.. gay club!
hey guys , i have my first gig tonight at a gay club. i am straight. so what should i expect here. i don’t want to be stereotypical and play the generic gay songs like its raining men lol.
coincidentially. my first time at a club was at their gay event (im straight and it was a big misunderstanding, and i met a cute straight girl so it was good at the end),
i specifically remembered the guys (assumingly gay) went crazy for gaga songs, and specifically Black eyed Peas time of your life (dirty bit).
Don’t want to make any wild assumptions but they’ll probably be expecting you to play music…

OK gaga check. dirty bit check! i am going to play disco as well. I am just setting up the first 30 minutes or so and from there i am going to wing it, 5 hours tonight. so i am just going to go with the flow

depends on the crowd really, just like any bar/club just play good music.
if you want to play some stereo typical but good music have a look at this list.
you might get a few ideas from it.
some of them songs can get most partys going…
a gay audience is a demanding audience;
they will want some hot club tunes and some cheesey pop the trick is getting it all in the right order…
If you only play house it will bomb, think of it as a party night and be ready to play some thumping dance anthems and commercial music together in the same set.
Dropping some tunes from the DJs from Mars back catalogue would be a safe bet.

One of my first big gigs was a gay night, but it was a Chicago house/disco night so i knew what i was playing.
But the crowd were amazing, so much fun
Me? Id hit the booth wearing a tight white tee, a leather peaked hat and arseless leather chaps, dropping this as a first choon while bending over and wiggling my butt…

Lots and lots of vocals, but in my experience the gay clubs generally have better taste than the straight clubs, so keep it tastefully cheesy and upbeat…be adventurous, back when I was going out, I used to love the gay club nights in Okinawa because they had the best Hard House Djs and very very little pretense, you are there to party same as them…
Same as them? Are gay couples different to straight couples? 2 heads or something?
Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Cher…I honestly don’t know a gay guy that wouldn’t dance to any of those.
