First Gig this Week: What do I Need for Load In/Soundcheck?

Hi DJTT Forum,

I have my first gig this week, and the event organizer has just asked me what I need from the venue in terms of load in and sound check. I have no clue what I need. Could anyone help me out? I use a MacBook Pro with Traktor Pro 2, a Traktor Kontrol S4 and F1, and a Novation Launchpad. I would also like the ability to plug my iPhone into the venue’s mixer in case of an equipment failure. I have a simple 3.5mm to RCA cable that would probably do the trick for that.

Any advice/help is much appreciated. Thanks so much!

spare everything

What do you mean?

Pretty much

What does “spare everything” mean?

u should basically have an extra set of RCA’s, USB Cables, Power Strip etc.

So the venue will provide extras of those?

you just need an in-house mixer that connects to the amps/booth etc,

plug your s4 output into the RCA of the mixer, channel fader up and off you go.

No.

He could always ask

If you want to look exceedingly unprofessional. What if they don’t have what you need? It’s not worth the risk.

[/quote] Ya ok. True.

Thanks everybody!

Get yourself ground loop isolator is plugging into a system you haven’t used before. The ART DTI is good as is has xlr’s and quarter jacks both in & out so whatever the connections are to the amp you will be able to hook up.

I’m not quite sure what this is, and I’m flat broke. Is it essential?

Sometimes you get hum through the sound system, sometimes you don’t, a DTI box gets rid of the hum. If its a decent venue with a sound engineer all will be ok as he or she will have them anyway. If not it would be down to you to sort out; I always carry one as a matter of course.

See if you can do a sound check in advance to make sure it’s all working.

Okay awesome, thanks so much.
