First gig using s2, someone pours a drink over it

Absolute rage filled my veins when i was DJing on saturday, capacity crowd, everyone raving like mad, and some dickhead tips a full drink over the edge into the DJ booth, soaking my S2 on the top and underneath. He was thrown out instantly, but checking CCTV tonight to try figure out who he is, matching that up with the clubs photo’s from the night so i can get him charged.

As far as i can tell, the controller still works ok, but i’m slightly worried it could break at some point..and i’m going to try get him to pay the full price i paid for it, so i can buy a replacement. Raging isnt even the word!

As you were playing out with an expensive bit of kit, you would have insurance no?

Unfortunately not. Do you have any reccommendations for insurance? I’m in the UK

i would be livid…i need to get insurance for mine too.

launch a Facebook campaign against him via the event page for the night

If you have house insurance, stick on your contents away from home if you can. you may have to pay a small excess but def worth it mate.

or something like this

Soooo many things could happen when playing out. spilt drinks, theft etc.

scares me even thinking about it.

Doooo it
I can see the mob of people already

+1 for DJ Guard

In a case like this when you aren’t covered, the club’s insurance should pay for it much the same as someone breaking a leg due to a wet floor, its negligence on their behalf that the incident occurred in the first place. Staff are employed to make sure that kinda shit doesn’t happen and DJ boxes should be reasonably protected against stuff happening.

I know that can be a sticky situation if you make a big deal out of it and intend playing regularly there (or around the area) - their premium goes up next year blagh blagh. I’d quietly pull the manager aside and see if something under the counter could be worked out.

Dunno what you’d get him charged for … being drunk ? .. unless he did it on purpose of course.

I used to work in sound hire and on occasions where stuff would be knackered on return from a venue hire they’d end up claiming on the insurance for the damage to our gear (of course we’d wait about 6 months to get paid :disappointed: )

Home insurance as far as I’m aware does not cover any work equipment (with the exception of laptops which can be dual purpose) away from the house, even then accidental damage can be a pain to claim for if they insist on getting the unit properly assessed you can be waiting an age.

That DJ guard looks very cool, wish they had that going back 15 odd years ago at home when all my records were stolen :rage:

Civil charges, my friend: destruction of property.

Party Crasher!!

Damm!!! That must suck… Stupid people cant handle their drinking. Hope you starting rocking again in no time…

This reminds me of a rave I went to just outside of phoenix about 5 years ago and this supper sloppy drunk girl fell over on a plastic table that they had set up the cdj’s on. lets just say the music stopped everything landed in the sand/dirt and that girl ran as fast as possible lol.
