Hey guys, did my first live performance at a local club. Roughly a thousand people, and I had the booth for half n hour. Was mostly House, electro house.
Lots of people requested dubstep but all I had was a Skrillex remix and a Ghosts’n’stuff remix on me at the time. The crowd was dancing, but what can I improve on here? I recorded the set thru Audacity so excuse the quality. Thanks
Not really. It was my first ‘big’ gig i guess, but there were A LOT of people asking for some dubstep or Skrillex. So i thru in a dance remix of one of his songs, didn’t want to stop the flow of the set by going in a totally different path.
open with a song that people know, but have a good intro that you mix up and drop it.
i like using the song “hello” with a nice intro beatmashing it delaying it and dropping it.
hooks the people and u can branch off some stuff. i like your mix dude!
Thanks guys for all the appreciation and feed back!!! Even more thanks advice!
As for my setup, it’s all Ableton.
APC 20 is like my mixer/motherbase
MPD26 is for triggering effects and EQ
Kontrol X1 is for looping and effects aswell.
And the lpd responds as a tini weeni monome to upscale some of the beats and play with the song in some sense. If you know what a monome is you know what I’m talking about, if not then look it up .
OH you were doing a DJ SET. i was baffled by how you were taking requests during a LIVE set…
just a distinction in terminology that tripped me up. I find your setup to be rather creative, i dig it.
