First real gig with the S4!

First real gig with the S4!

So, in a couple of days i have my first real gig at the club with the S4!
Any tips n tricks?

Reboot your computer before you start.

Nothing else .. ?
Thx btw

Turn wi-fi off

And bluetooth.

have rca/xlr converters incase there is no mixer to in-line.

Probably wouldn’t hurt to have one of these if your using the RCA

I’ve had a hum with my audio 8 on a djm-800 before.

Bring a flashlight.

+1 on the reboot.

Dont spend the 10 hours prior to your gig djing, you will be burned out.

Have yourself ready to play the night before and relax during the day.

Drink lots of water, but don’t drink so much that you’ll be pissing every 15 minutes.

Thanks guys! Now i know they use Rca there ive already checked that! But i will buy that stuff incase when i get my paycheck!

Love djing!

I too will be mixing my first real gig on my S4 this weekend, will post on saturday

Thanks pal! Got any tips? Stuff to think about? Maybe what to NOT do?
I’m pretty nervous although when i used to rap i stood in front of 25 000 people xD!

you welcome mate, well the guys covered most of it.

This is what I do before I start playing at gigs.

  1. Reboot my MBP.
  2. Make sure all the cables are plugged in correctly (USB, Power cord, RCA’s etc)
  3. Turn of my Blutooth, Wifi, and change my power settings to max.
  4. Check the volume levels on my S4 and the club mixer.
  5. Load up the next track, mix in and play!

I can’t seem to find the software volume? Any ideas?

Top center in the global section, says main volume.

Always wondered what to set that at just before you plug-in? 0DB I guess?

Hey bud, normally when I pug in I set the S4 volume controls to 0DB. I prefer to not go to loud on the S4, and rather if I have to boost the volume, boost it up on the club mixer.

I think once you start pushing the volume up too much on the S4 you risk hearing clips and drops. It hasn’t happened to me, but then I havnt tested to see if it happens. I have at times raised the volume on my S4 to about 60/70% a cpl of times and nothing happened, but never full. IMO set the S4 volume to 0DB and if you have to raise the volume levels, raise them from the clubs mixer.

Thanks! The gig went amazing btw, the maneger liked me and booked me for next week again

Mine’s set at -8 and I know Karlos keeps his in the - as well. Really kind of depends on where you’re playing.

For how many people do you play when it’s set at -8?

Played at another nightclub in Sweden today, i get calls everyday for gigs!
Man i love my S4, can i order a case from DJTT to sweden?

Cheers!
