If i reach 500 plays this week by this time next Sunday, i will donate €20 to Japan. And will continue to do so right up until my final school exams in june.
An extra €10 for every 100 comments.
I have already thought of this, And my family have already donated a sum of money. And there are things happening in the community to support the help.
Being a japan resident I don’t find anything insensitive about this.
Since Dan here is no Elton John and surely have no way of selling records to raise funds to donate I think he is doing the best he can to both donate and promote his music.
Artists do concerts for a cause, albums for a cause. It’s no different only that they have an audience to sell to and our co member here doesnt have any (yet)
I’m going to have to agree with fullenglishpint on this one man.
You’re not generating revenue through your SoundCloud. And you’re not creating awareness. If you were donating money through sales that would be different. SoundCloud plays and comments have absolutely no effect on the 20 euro coming out of your pocket…
I’m happy to hear you’ve already donated, but in this case, just donate the 20 anyways.
That’s really nice of them. Problem is I heard that reception (service) is horrible and spotty at best over there. That’s why people are just uploading to the internet. Cause even if it’s spotty if they get signal for a second they can just post stuff up.
I know a guy in Tokyo who sent an update email to tell everyone he’s ok, apparently phones were down at least temporarily to prioritise emergency signals, but SMS, internet and blackberry email still worked.
what’s also cool is how his apartment building has rubber foundations and water filled weights half way up and on the roof to counter vibrations. The building swayed a lot, but he was on the 24th floor and there was no jarring vibration and the building remained very much intact.
Yeah man, i’ve been saying if this catastrophic event (the massive earthquake before a ginormous tsunami) occurred in any other region of the world aside from Japan and the United States whatever poor country it hit would have most likely been wiped off the face of the Earth.
