Piano, flute, and the Maschine
because the Maschine is an instrument on its own. Just like the midi fighter.
Guitars, drums, keys, bass (who cant) all to varying degrees.
Guitar, drum set, tenor drums (quads/quints), harmonica, bass (I agree with elliot1106.“who can’t”), clarinet. I’ve been meaning to learn piano though.
I think that its necessary for anyone who tries to produce to be able to play an instrument first. Thats why I really don’t respect Swedish Fish Mafia. They can’t actually play instruments. They just hit keys until something sounds good. Thats the major problem with production and recording today. Since everything is software now, someone can just slap on a preset or turn knobs until something sounds good, but they have no idea how any of it actually works.
well i get alot of questions and hear alot of people asking me what vst and software i use…
What?
I do play a lot of instruments – even live in various bands. But I don’t think producers need to become virtuosos with instruments. The computer is the instrument. Now, the more you know musically the more interesting music you could produce.
No, but i suck at producing, so there might be a conection
classical piano mainly, but then trombone, banjo, guitar, bass, drums, harmonica, and the melodica
so many kids expecting to be awesome producer by downloading the same stuff others use never touched an instrument in their life
i played trombone in middle school. i play a bit of guitar, bass, drums, some percussion, keys, the recorder, and an ocarina. i’ve played guitar the longest but i feel most comfortable on drums since all i have to do is bang things on beat and not have to worry about pesky wrong notes when jamming with friends.
bass, guitar, some self learned piano
I have never played an instrument in my life except music class at school over 8 years ago and i have found it very, very difficult getting into production. I wish i spent some time learning an instrument or two now, but i will eventually start to learn instruments as i progress.
I don’t think my end of the UK has hit that faddy stage yet ![]()
Been able to produce good sounding music in seconds from an instrument can be very rewarding, look forward to it man!
I don’t play any instruments and I hit piano chords until something sounds good. I dont think there is any shame in it.
Self taught Guitar, Bass, Piano. Played trumpet and tuba in school. Most proficient with Guitar. Currently starting drums and vocals. It’s all a constant learning process though. ![]()
Harmonica!! Fun, easy to jam on, and I do know how to actually play the harmonica lol. Also useful at busy clubs and events when your friends are looking for you!
Harmonica, to me, has always been one of those instruments that you’re either really good at or really annoying. Nothing like listening to a true pro wailing away at one though
. Def on my to learn list (although I doubt I’ll ever get that good)
