Foreign sayings creeping into your daily lives

Foreign sayings creeping into your daily lives

We’re largely an international community on here and as such I’ve caught myself saying things that I used to normally never say. Mate for example is something I never said unless I was doing a Crocodile Dundee or Steve Irwin impersonation. Anybody else catch themselves being influenced by our international DJTT members?

yeah im the same way. I caught mate from being on here so much, not really anything else I can think of though

I went from getting my panties in a bunch to getting my knickers in a twist.

Banger used to mean a hot track. Now it means link sausage.

It’s all smiTTTen’s fault.

i got used to write in english  (obviously since i´m a german)

Things have gone from being ‘really good’ to ‘well good’… also a certain ‘c’ word seems to have made it’s way in to rather liberal use, I should probably be careful about that lol.

Also picked up some italian expressions but that’s not the fault of DJTT forums :stuck_out_tongue:

yeap, me as well .. dropping “mate”, “chap”, “charlie (hehehe)” and just like vangogo when i hear banger … i picture a sausage LOL

Sigged.

Hahaha, forgot all about that Tom Green bit. Nice one!

I’ve seen “mate” creep into my spoken vocabulary too.

Taking the piss. I’ve caught myself using this more and more lately.

yep, between here and filth.fm (based in london) I’ve started saying “mate” unintentionally as well.

Here’s one for ya: “No Wuckas”

Or perhaps “Klunge Master”

My contribution to this wonderful exchange of culture and language :stuck_out_tongue:

I am also happy to report that I have more Americans using my slang than the other way around.

On average it takes me using the word “mate” 3 or 4 times during a 30 minute cab ride to the airport to ensure the taxi driver says “goodbye mate” when he drops me off.

you kiss your mom* with that mouth?

*americanese, correct spelling is “mum”

No Wuckas. Shortened form of “No Wucking Forries” … Yall can figure that one out

‘word’
I think its an American thing, i just dont know anymore
