Free VST bass/synth for tech-house production
hey guys,
I’m new to production and I’m trying to get my feet wet using Ableton Live.
I’m mostly into groovy/tech house, so I was wondering whether you could point me to 1 or 2 free VST plug-ins which would be appropriate for bass and synth stabs in this genre.

would it be easier maybe to start off by experimenting with ableton’s MIDI instruments (i.e. analog)?
Tech house bass is no different to creating your own bass sounds for any other genre. Just less top end and more of a deeper tone than say electro/dubstep. There is no one free vst designed for a specific genre/sound. Thats the great thing about music production, almost limitless in what you want to do. YouTube is your friend.
One tip, researching assigning ADSR to the filters in whichever synth you end up using.

And to answer your question a great free vst is TAL-Elec7ro. Its free, quite simple to use and is on many peoples top 10 free vst lists so you know its quality.
Operator for live is basically tech house on a stick
tyrell n6 synth is a good all around synth.
