Gater hurts my ears.

Gater hurts my ears.

In Traktor Pro 2, i like the effect it produces, but that really high pitched clicking that makes the effect is awful. Is there a way to get around it? Just starting to really get into effects.

Filter out the high frequency or lower the high eq on the mixer, it shouldn’t be as sharp after either adjustment.

put it in advanced mode and turn the filter (the 1st one of the three) of (compleetly to the right).

May I hijack this thread for another gater-related question?

You know how the Gate effect on some Pio mixers (only one I’ve heard is the DJM-350) seems to gate only certain frequencies (so you can get sort of gated vocals but still have the beat going), does anyone know if you can emulate this in TP2?

This.

I stay with a Gater loaded in advanced mode. By adjusting the filter and noise ammt along with the rate you can make some pretty wicked buildups.. I still prefer traktors Gater over the ones found on my DB4.

Turn down your wet\dry knob a bit?

What does your output meter look like? Is it red lining before you engage the gater?

Frequency specific effects is kinda stupid in Traktor, you need to clone the deck, filter out the low frequencies on one deck, filter out the high frequencies of the other, then put the gater on just one deck. If you were using Ableton on the other hand it would not be anywhere near as difficult.

What Bento is saying is…that if you want the Gater to sound nice…you have to use Ableton.

Bento…you a perfectionist when it comes to FX…as you know how it sounds when its at its best.

But for the mere mortals…what can they do in Traktor to get the Gater sounding better?

Come on…

I’ve never heard the gater “click” before… Not sure what’s happening here. How are you using it?
