Getting Booked/Talent Agencies..Help.

I auditioned for a promoter last night who thought I did a “great job”.
They asked me to play at the Libertine on Sunset in LA this thursday, but I have to give $100 for tickets by Tonight to prove I can bring ppl in…

If I do this, and I bring ppl in, then I get a gig playing at the House of Blues on July 5th.

I’m sketched out by it bc of the money involved.. I don’t wanna get screwed over.

Is this how club/booking situations are?
I’m paying THEM so I can play, is that weird?

Any input is greatly appreciated

dont be put off though, keep networking and getting yourself around, it will only take one gig and you could have a permanent slot.

coming from a band background i dealt with this a few times.

NEVER pay to play
its just lazy promoters making you do all the hard work
and ends up destroying music scenes.
