Getting Shazam or equivalent to auto identify a track internally (ie not speakers)
Hello all,
Rather random picking of brains here please, I am proof listening some mixes through my Headphones (via iTunes), and need to double check that the tracklisting is correct (title and mix) as well as listening out for any problems. Is there an app on a Mac that I can use to identify the tracks internally as I am going along?
At the moment using a Headphone Jack Splitter 3.5mm Jack Plug to 2x 3.5mm and then routing that to Auxiliary hifi and through its speakers, with an iphone with Shazam on Auto. Ideally would have a more streamlined solution.
You want an app that can grab zeros and ones and ID a track on your home PC? That sounds impossible.
Shazam merely listens to an analog wave recorded on a .17 cent Chinese cellphone microphone which was broadcast through a 12 year old rusting restaurant speaker then converts it to zeros and ones, uploads it via 4G and returns the ID to your cellphone.
Ah apologies my bad. Does seem rather within the realms of possibilities and my workaround so cumbersome that I assumed it had to have to been a sarcastic reply. I usually listen on some big studio monitors with iphone on auto identify with mixed but generally get there in the end results. Does sometimes throw in some random curveballs.
Actually it’s not ridiculous.
If Shazam listens to audio, converts it to 0 and 1’s, then matches it to another file of 0 and 1’s to get a result…
Then logically, it should be able to do the same thing by taking a 0 and 1 file and match it directly without having to convert it first.
Definitely possible… Would just have to point it to the file (or part of the file).
Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s out there already
Anything goes over my head when the amount of sleep I get is less than the set I played the prior night
Figured it was sarcasm.
In any event… This idea is probably of interest to anyone who has an online store. Would love to be able to link right up to a track on Beatport that I heard on a podcast (not all give track listings). Cuts out the Shazam middleman and its inability to read off of that crappy iPhone speaker
