Gig Compensation

Hey,

I’m an amateur DJ and I just got my first gig (high school dance at the HS I graduated from 4 years ago) and I wanted to see if any of you had any experience doing these.

Are there any tips/advice you guys would have for this, and also what is the typical compensation for this (we haven’t officially agreed or talked about this yet)?

well what kind of services will you be providing? will you be offering full sound setup and some lights as well? how many people are expected? what kind of time commitment are ya looking at?

Music/MCing. The usual stuff.
Offering full sound setup, gonna try and get some lights too.
I’d guess around 250 people.
It’s a 3 hour dance not including set up and take down.

$300-500 sounds about right

how much would YOU do the gig and feel okay about it for? double it, or at least 1.5 it haha.

$300-$500 is about right for a school dance that size, they generally have a very limited budget.

Meetings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3pm -7pm, with emergency meeting held as often as needed.
