It’s funny because he’s the perfect candidate for one or more midi controllers but instead he’s mastered pointing-and-clicking through complex sets of loops. His live performance involves AudioMulch and he edit loops in Adobe Audition. I just couldn’t handle mixing with little check boxes.
Props to him for still using Windows XP, but you could do the same stuff with Ableton, and have a lot more fun with it and have it be less of a headache.
Seems like he could do it more easily with Ableton Live and a Novation Launchpad or something. Although I guess once you’re used to a certain workflow, it’s hard to change everything.
gawd. doesnt look fun. around about 7 mins he says it’s impossible for him to mute something and start 3 samples at the same time. He needs ableton and an APC40, or something.
I’ve tried audiomulch. It’s easier in it’s own way. I’m moving to ableton however and grabbing a launchpad. He does what he does well. If it ain’t broke…
Think about not only the fact that he started remixing before the year 2000, but also how insanely popular he has become doing things his way. His workflow was developed before controllers were more then a concept.
This is a great example of talent and vision eclipsing technology.
