Ok since i moved to madrid aint seen my mates in a good month or that
so we are going to amsterdam on the 20th november for a few days
and meeting up with some of my mates buddys from the usa.
so first things first,i need a place to stay,i think my mates are sorting a hostel for them, but i would have to sort something from my end just for 3 days
and cheap as poss,as i am pretty broke right now
and apart from getting high, wasted and being ripped off by a hooker at 5am is there any good clubs i should look out for? or stuff to do
this my first time in the dam so any advice would be great cheers
Club Trouw has a nice atmosphere, and has some pretty nice parties. Also, I heard on the last Saturday of each month the party continues until like 2pm on Sunday.
Really? good to hear that, played in A’Dam 2 months ago the party was over at 3am and everyone told me that all the parties were over at 4am maximum, not really ravy…
supperclub is definitely something different venue wise, good food too. Oddly enough on a Monday night that place is bumping. Trouw is wicked cool looking on the inside and has a night kitchen as well, decent burger but check the programming, sometimes its lame and sometimes its really good depending on who is running the night.
Studio 80 is a pretty good venue for tech-house, techno and minimal. Although as far as aesthetics go its 2 black boxes and a smoking room.
Jimmy Woo and Escape if you want the douchebag doorman, expensive drink and ritsy club treatment. The doormen at the Jimmy Woo can be especially dick-ish, although it is really hard to peg. That place also has a serious Russian gangster vibe, but your mileage may vary.
I would pay very close attention to who is actually running the night more so than the venue itself, it can really be the difference between excitement and disappointment.
I you wanna do late go to Groningen, thursday nights most times continue til friday 7-8am select clubs though, and you won’t get in after 5 or 6. Also the atmosphere in Groningen is great on thursdays, other days it’s alright too, except for saturdays when all the rednecks come to town and wanna fight and sh*t…
If you do come to Groningen try to go right after the 24th of any month, since that’s when all the students get their money. The week before the 24th the city is pretty much dead, since about one in six people living in Groningen is a student.
