Since I ask you guys everything else I figured I would ask your opinion on this one. I got asked to DJ X-mas night. I Kind of feel iffy sence it is X-mas and all. My girlfriend said I was crazy even considereing it. What do you guys think?
Are you more or less concerned about the turnout at the venue since it’s Christmas? I’ve DJ’d on X-mas night a few times and the turnout was great (mind you they were parties catered to a specific ethnic clientelle (i.e. Greek night, etc., although I’m not Greek…lol)).
I think it all comes down to the crowd… will be a restaurant where you will have to play vomitive xmas tunes and other mainstream s****, or will it be a club where you’ll mixing your usual blend of electronic music and the only difference will be the santa hats people will be wearing?
On Xmas nights people are in a very upbeat mood and it’s pretty easy to make a very memorable night, even more in a club environment.
My personal deal with holiday gigs: I wouldn’t play it unless it was a friends/family event, unless we’re talking about a life-altering amount of money (unlikely to happen to me).
Yeah, friends and family are that important to me.
it could not hurt, by the time you hit the club, you will have had all day with the family. also people flood into clubs on holidays that fall on weekends. some of my best nights were holiday weekends, everyone should be in a good mood. but everyone has different traditions, i would never do christmass eve, but i could care less christmass night
Well…these types of gigs usually pay the most. Ask for a decent amount Dude…its your holiday…special family day you are sacrificing to have others enjoy theirs. So make em pay. Next…be sure to have the right music. BoneyM…etc. You gonna be bored…guarranteed. Take something along to keep your mind busy. I would randomize the playlist…get pissed…eye the pretty female guests and play a game on you lappy.
