Came along this Apple2PC (Hackintosh)
I know there was something like hackingtosh, but this article got my interest.
However I’ve got a few questions I hope you guys can answer.
Is hackingtosh on a windows laptop (toshiba satellite) good for Dj’ing purposes?
Will it delete my regular windows data or can I still use my windows stuff?
Is there anyone on this forum who also uses it, and is it worth giving it a go?
I don’t see the point really. Also I bet this is one of those things that should be of so simple but has a habit of turning really quite nasty and requiring a good level of technical expertise to get working how you want it. (expertise I doubt you have since you don’t seem to have any experience installing an operating system judging by question number 2)
Stay away from the idea then. You will probably lose some data (unless you have backup of everything) and it is a time consuming process with no guarantees it will work in the end.
If you want OSX save for a mac, it’s worth it. If you don’t feel like spending such a large amount of money, tinker your PC and you should be fine.
Also, you must consider the instability of running something on hardware it was never designed to run on. Especially where if you crash you may lose a spot at a club, etc.
why is this forum against hackintosh projects? imo as long as its a properly licensed version of osx then its totally legit, no matter what apple try to tell you.
also the point is that windows is crap, and mac’s are overpriced but mac osx is solid. makes perfect sense to me tbh
Don’t want to comment 'bout the ethics of hackintoshing, but legally, as you use the OS on a machine that does not conform with the license agreement that you agree to when buying and installing OSX, you are clearly doing something that is against a contract. Therefore this by itself might be considered illegal, depending on local legislation. And as you actually have to mod the os to make it work on a non-apple machine, you are clearly modifying it - again, at least against the EULA, in some countries it might also be considered as an illegal circumvention of technical means to ensure that the software is only used in the intended way.
It’s the old game. You’re not buying the OS, you pay for a license to use it under certain conditions you agree to. If you disegard those conditions, it’s unlicensed use.
Again, don’t wanna comment on the ethics, because I personally think it’s bullsh** the way it is, but from a legal point of view, it’s illegal in some places probably most, actually), at least “grey area” in others. So my recommendation is to remove the link, because this is a site that generally does not condone such things in my experience, and we should respect that, just for the sake of not taking the chance to cause trouble for the people who provide the DJTT site and forum.
kinda like if you buy a cpu for your pc it says in their agreement that you are only allowed to use THEIR heatsink… like we do anyways loool
You bought the software, they arent watching you 24/7 they got their money and can go F themself because all they want is for you to purchase their EXTREMELY overpriced products.
