Attempts to do the melbourne shuffle and falls over his own two feet
Not me obviously
But i have heard of it.
I have been known to get dirty looks at goth clubs for dropping some Rotterdam Terror Corp… I enjoy myself some hardstyle when I get pissed at the crowd and I’m drunk on Blackhaus. ![]()
Sometimes it’s just too fuckin fast. Once you hit 160bpm it shouldn’t be four to the floor, it should be drum and bass
QFT
4x4 at anything over 150 imo just starts to sound stupid, especially with your standard hardstyle hyper-compressed basskicks.
Been listening to some hardstyle, the more breaks/dnb style stuff with more mixed up synths and proper basslines is decent. I reeeeealy cant stand the cheesy stuff tho. Hard Trance / Hard House is mostly pretty shit imo. Subjective I guess, but yeah.
Most Hardstyle will be between say 140-150 give or take but upwards of 150 i’d probably call it Hardcore…Its getting pretty big on the east coast of Aus however its mostly the cheese laden Qdance stuff…MC for a Hardstyle party?! WTF?! /EndRant
Anyway i don’t mind it but you relay have to be in the mood…worst music possible if your not in the mood…damn i need sleep
Another brisbanite, Yay!
A friend of a friend who i bought my padkontrol off mixes hardstyle, or what i perceive to be hardstyle (genres cross each others borders sometimes)
I can appreciate it but i agree with the above post - if you’re not in the mood it’s absolutely terrible.
Not heard of Hardstyle but it sounds like Gabba / breakcore.
Goatlab and Shitmatt stylee?
Hardstyle to me is not gabba or breakcore … to me hardstyle is what seems to have come out of the hard trance hard house happy hardcore sort of clubs.
I think Hard Trance can be fun, but usually when it sits around 140bpm and runs no longer than 4:00. I don’t think hard trance pulls off the 7:00 tracks like PsyTrance. ![]()
i play the darkest, slamminest drum and bass i can get my hands on, but i don’t think thats what you mean?
yea brisbane FTW!!! haha
na hardstyle dudes
jus listen to some Dutch Master, the hardest banging tunes
jus makes me wanna stomp ![]()
hardstyle is a welcome change after you have been playing/listening to house for a couple of hours
Nah its not, but dont ever think about stopping doing that 1

Noisia dropped some weird hardstyle track in their set @ Phat09, at least it was some pounding track with hypercompressed ‘hard’ kicks. Was fucking weird, 1/2 way between DnB, Hardstyle, Electro and Breaks… either way it was FUCKING BANGING! I never thought I’d like ‘hardstyle’-kicks but I want to play with them now. Drop them over some DnB and see what it does…hmmm or dubstep, that would be fucking oddd.
I am all for breaking down the barriers between these genres of music ![]()
Gone are the days of sticking to a single genre of music !
there is also jumpstyle which is somewhere between hardstyle and electro
can be cool
I think the beginning of hardstyle was more influenced by (uk) hardhouse and hardtrance,
nowadays its more going to hardcore. With all genres nowadays its also hard to put it in one box sometimes.
alot of the early pioneering hardstyle DJ’s/producers come from hardcore backgrounds
eg. Zany, The Prophet, Isaac
yay!
That might go well with some of the electro house influenced songs that are running around at the moment. Theres alot of similarities between electro house and drum and bass poping up at the moment.
