Hardwell is just an example, but for say he was playing at tomorrow land and most of his mixes were 3rd party tracks, not made by him, but just songs that were remixed by someone else.
Where can I find a source to download his kind of remixes?
Hmm ok its cause ive been away from the whole DJ scene for months, and I have the top 100 tracks from beatport in: House, Progressive and Trance. But I cant see whats good and whats not…Is 1 year old beatport music out-dated?
OK got the right page on soundcloud but theres no way to download some songs…is there some kind of “soundcloud downloader” like youtube has?
Checked out DJ Pool, dont mind spending $12, but are the tracks any good?
You form a taste and YOU decide what’s good. That’s how you make your sound. I’ve been DJ’ing for 2-3 years and I play 4-6 year old songs sometimes.
If the artist doesn’t have buy or download links then chances are it’s an exclusive. There are such programs but the output file will NOT be high quality so it’ll sound shit on big sound systems. I could go into detail about that but make sure ALL your files are 320kpbs sample rate or better.
That’s just one. There are lots of different pools. I’m part of the “Your Army” pool. It’s free but there is a pretty picky application process.
+1. Producers around the world are begging for these big time DJ’s to play their unknown tracks. They’ll send their music to every record label or DJ and pray to get air time. World famous DJ’s have email inboxes FULL of tracks and remixes we’ve never heard. I’m sure many big DJ’s have a team of people who handle these types of things; we call them “crate diggers.” These people work for the DJ by checking emails all day, filled with promos from producers. They’ll weed out the good tracks and send them off to the DJ. Or they’ll dig deep on the internet to find some hidden gems themselves.
Depends on which DJ pool you choose and what type of music you play. If you’re more focused on popular music, a pool could be your dream. You can obtain a wide variety of music through the right record pool, from top 40’s to throwbacks to rock to reggae to hip hop to electro house. If you check them daily you’ll have the hottest tracks at hand before they even get radio play. However, I haven’t found many pools that are good for underground genres. Those tracks are rare and need to be dug out on their own.
Sounds like a perfect job for me since I’m a daily crate digger and have been for many years.
I’m pretty sure most of the DJs I like do their own crate digging though. Plus my preference of style never stays still and I suspect most DJs that would employ people to find and filter their tunes stick to a very specific style and seldom deviate.
He gets music exclusively from the authors sometimes way before they are oficially released, some bootlegs simply won’t make it to the big crowd, so some of the tracks he plays will never be available for you.
A lot other big DJs do this too, its a way of being exclusive and not making similar track selections to a 15 yr old bedroom dj. (Or letting 15 yr old bedroom djs simply copy the track selections and play themselves.)
Hardwell gets his tracks directly from the creators… I’m pretty sure his management/Label/PR team has something to do with what he plays. As well as the PAYOLA system.
