Has anyone ever used “Broadcast Using This Tool” aka BUTT?
I am trying to use BUTT to broadcast online, but apparently, because my laptop has a mic built in (as opposed to a mic input jack) I cannot use it properly. Apparently I need to buy one of these:
Traktor S2
HP Laptop (with headphone jack, but no mic jack)
Traktor Scratch Pro 2
Shure PGA58 (XLR only)
Speakers/Amp with line in only
I also have a Behringer DJX750 with an XLR port if I need to use that, but I think I need to get an XLR to Phono cable to connect my mic directly to my Traktor S2.
The S2 doesn’t come with TSP. Also the S2 has only 2 outs. So your best option is to purchase a soundcard like the one you mentioned to make it happen.
I have the Audio 6, but the problem is not to do with that.
The problem is to do with the BUTT software, which uses the mic input to stream. However, newer laptops don’t have mic inputs, they have internal mics.
Because it’s not my station, I’m being told what to use by the owners, and it seems I must abide by what’s being said! I have purchased the Behrigner UCA202 and according to the guy who I purchased it from (the shop) this should do exactly the trick.
The combi microphone/headphone jack on my HP laptop only works as a microphone when a 4-connector audio jack is put in. So what I need is a Male 2 RCA to 3 ring/TRRS male 3.5mm jack.
That’s weird. Most laptops will auto detect and choose line in when there’s a 3.5mm TRS plugged in. A mic 3.5 mm is a TS mono connector. You’re referring to a headset 3.5mm which is a TRS with an extra ring for the mic signal.
JUst found a 3 pin RCA (Red White Yellow) to TRRS 3.5mm jack and tried that.
I plugged the red and white RCA into my Traktor S2 and the TRRS 3.5mm jack into my mic input on the laptop. Although the mic input recognised it, BUTT’s lights still didn’t pick anything up and therefore did not flash.
So while I think I still need a TRRS, now I’m not as sure as I was.
