Headphone Etiquette

Hey guys!

Got a question in regards to how I wear my headphones. Right now I have a pair of “Sennheiser HD25-1 II” and mix with an S4 with Traktor. The side of the headphones with the cord is a right channel and of course left is well, left.

I feel most comfortable with the cored / heavier side on my left ear when I cue and leave my right ear open to listen to the live monitors.

Would anyone say that this is a problem listening to the right channel in my left ear?? If so should I change any settings on my mac / traktor to switch them?

Thanks in advanced!

Huh - I use the TMA-1 Studio for DJing. I’m like you - chord on the left, off ear on the right.

you can always make your monitor output mono so this massive problem is no longer an issue.

Or just reverse your Monitor Output Routing…

How do you think your mixes are coming out? I would say not to worry about it since mainly with cueing your listening to the kicks and snares which are pretty much right in the center of the mix. Plus most dance music is mono to sound best in the clubs, which is almost always mono. Are you using sync? Do you even need headphones?

Do whatever the hell you want. If it works for you then it is nothing less than PERECT.

The time it took you to write this post could have been spent mixing.

The only headphone “Etiquette” I can think of is wiping off your sweat from a borrowed pair before handing them back :stuck_out_tongue:

at least someone picked up on this lol

we need “likes” here

do what ever you want, just rember to wipe your keith sweat off of the headphones when your done mixing

I have cord on the left too…theres no right way

Face the other direction while mixing :stuck_out_tongue:

This … and maybe the don’t unplug the other DJ’s headphones to plug yours in.

What is keith sweat?

I feel there aren’t enough novelty DJ headphones on the market…any suggestions?

well, since it’s really just for queuing and you’re only listening to one channel who cares..

I queue with my right ear and I like to use the swivel side to keep the phones on my neck but still close for quick access when I need to check up on my sync…

Novelty eh ?

Haha! Awesome! Are those dancefloor-piercing bullets???!!!

I would like a pair of headphones where the earpieces look like teabags…

that is unless they won’t get off the decks at the end of their set.. I’ve had to sneak records on the platter before..
