HELP!!!! think i just tanked my macbook.

HELP!!! think i just tanked my macbook.

Ok so i was just going to do a fresh install of osx on my macbook pro

loaded in disc
clicked install osx
then laptop restated

got a flashing flle with a question mark

then when pressing option got a password screen tried my password did not boot

took a trip to google and one bit said take out the ram put it back in and turn it on

now my macbook wont turn on at all

any help?

currently writing this and weeping on my girlfriends macbook

now its turning back on again but still getting that folder flashing with the question mark

???

Get a mac, wait, oops.

not 100% sure but maybe you could use dualboot using your girls mac and remotely install your OS onto your mac

EDIT: Bootcamp* sorry

or maybe the remotely install osX in utilities?

how do i go about this sorry i am still a noob to osx
windows no problem but this is a first for me

go to desktop, then your top bar, ‘go’ then ‘applications’ then down to the bottom to ‘utilities’ and try either of the two programs, probably remotely install osx first,

no idea how it works or anything, just ive heard this problem a few times and simply passing on info

but starting boot camp on my g/f’s laptop is not gonna help as i cant get past the flashing question mark on my laptop so dont i need to get in to my mac to set this up all so i dont see how thos methods are gonna help me but thank you for trying

this is the last thing i need on a saturday night
all i did was stick in an osx disc

i have time machine back ups on a hard drive but when i connect that to the mac i still get flashing question mark unless i hold down option then i get a root password screen and i don’t know what it is

I think you have to hold down either C or COMMAND while booting with an OSX CD to select to boot it…

lol hackintosh experience <3

tried both keep getting flashing question mark

Ask in a mac forum!

i have googled everything been on all the sites nothing is working i just dont get it

FIXED IT

changed out the ram and out it back in again working now

Hmmm now i have a new problem i can login but it switches its self off after about 1 minute and the battery is “not charging” just a green light on the charger saying its full when its not

this is weird never thought my mac would cop out while trying to do a fresh install, could it i used my girlfriends osx discs?

who knows what is going on

Battery things like that = Hardware not software.

Somebody didn’t finesse their way into their macbook…

so its the battery?

i have took one 1gb of ram out now and it just works for like 2 mins then shuts down
i have 2 battery s and both doing the same

i think its the cheap battery that’s messed everything up,its all working again with the old official battery, that will teach me to go cheap
