I just got the LPD8 form Akai and want it to control my effects in Traktor Pro 2.
By just plugging in the lpd8, and by launching Traktor (without touching any of the mapping settings), the blue light next to “Control” in Traktor goes on whenever I hit a pad or turn a knob of my lpd8. This means it receives some sort of signal form the LPD8.
However:
1- I have imported different presets into the akai controller manager software and their corresponding TSIs into Traktor, and it just won’t work.
2- So I tried doing the mapping manually, but the Learn button doesn’t work !
I bought the controller today and was very excited to use it next to my numark mixdeck, but now it just frustrates me and spoils my mood.
I’ve tried all of that with no result.
I have no idea why it wouldn’t work.
On another note, is there a thread in which all of the different mapping terms are explained? What i refer to is the list of items when you click “Add In”.
And what does the “Add Out” do ?? I will try to make a mapping myself, which will be difficult with the Learn button not working ..
they’re mostly just what they say they are. just takes a bit of getting used to the naming conventions maybe.
‘outs’ are traktor sending midi to your controller - for visual feedback by lighting an led or something.
the ‘learn’ function needs to work tho… if data is coming in (which seems to be as you say you see the activity light flicker on traktor) and it is set to route to the mapping your are editting then ‘learn’ should just work - and if not then something else is wrong.
no chance you got the lp8 in+out back to front when choosing the ports in traktor?
worst case scenario download something like midi-ox and just check what is coming out of the lpd8.
I rebooted again, tried another port, deleted all the imported controller TSIs, and started from scratch.
The Learn button worked very nicely, and so I just finished my effects mapping.
Strange though that Traktor didn’t recognise the lpd8 at first.
I wanted to play around with the effects and check if everything worked, but I noticed that none of effects affect the music, as if they were all switched off.
The controls work perfectly though, and I can see on Traktor the parametres changing and the orange “On” button.
I tried setting the effects routing to Insert/Send which didn’t change anything.
my thought too… u need to turn on the fx in the fx unit area as well as enable that fx unit for the deck you want to use it on. i only use internal mixing tho so dont know how its different when routing externally - only a slightly diff gui i presume
D.S.M.I.T. How do you have your audio out routed? I was trying to set up my Total Control to control decks C/D while my Mixdeck controls deck A/B and I coldn’t get any sound out of C/D.
