Help with mapping multiple controllers in Traktor pro 2

So I just got my pair of Korg nanoPad2’s and nanoKONTROL2

My first question is how do I differentiate or recognize the controllers?
I know I have to add them, by clicking add then picking generic midi, and then edit to name, but how does Traktor know which one it is. Do I just add an assignment and then click learn and press the button or turn a knob on the controller?

I want to use the 2 nanoPAD2’s to control decks C and D as remix decks, the bottom two rows of 8 buttons on the nanoKONTROL2 as cue points for decks A and B. The faders and knobs to control FX 1 and 2 and also with a shift to control each decks filter, gain, key, pan, and eq knobs.

The create then learn function is pretty straight forward, but I’m lost as to how exactly and where exactly to start, because I don’t know how to make sure my commands are for the right controller. I mean it’s all basically going to end up molded into one piece once I get another nanoKONTROL2, but how can I be sure it will always be recognized as the right ones? This not knowing is keeping me from starting. :rage:

Like I said I’ve got a game plan, but just really unsure where to start, for I fear I’ll sit here for a few hours setting up and it will work, and then next time I reopen it will all be lost or switched up. I think it’s the all being “generic” and not Traktor saying "Oh look there is a nanoKONTROL2 right here and look here’s nanoPAD2 #1 and here’s nanoPAD2 #2

Thank you for any input and advice.

Sounds like you’ve set multiple devices to ALL PORTS? Your computer should recognize both kontrol as unique device. Then you should be able to address midi to both controllers individually by picking it os an IN/OUT ports.

Yes That was the issue why I wasn’t finding them. I actually found that and made a good amount of progress. Still having some issues. For instance I have the nanoPAD2’s set up on for a remix deck each. One on C and one on D. Have all 64 triggers correctly set, but I can not figure out how to get the controllers to switch scenes in Traktor (So I can see the thing I am triggering) You know to scroll the page down. I’d like to use the scene button for this, since that’s what it technically does.

Also I have the knobs on the nanoKONTROL2 set to the 2 FX decks, and the top row of buttons to toggle them on and off, but even though I have an out trigger set to activate the led it’s not coming on. I used KORG Kontrol editor to set the led to external, but still not working.

Next issue is I can not seem to figure out how to use the two bottom rows of 8 buttons on the KONTROL for cue points. at this moment I am thinking that I need to set them to ADD/Track Deck/Cue/Set Cue and Store as next Hotcue, but I’m thinking that won’t actaully assign that button as the intended cue number.

My next question would be. How do I assign a Shift command to a button? I can not find that in the drop down menus anywhere.

It’s known in Traktor mapping as a ‘modifier’

Thank you!

Any advice for assigning buttons to specific cue points? As I stated up there. I’d like to use the bottom two rows of 8 buttons on the nanoKONTROL2 as deck A and B cue points, but I can not find any way to do this. I can set and delete cue points with them, but not map them in a linear fashion.

Also I can not find a way to use the scene button to switch between the scene in the remix decks.

Ok found it. in add in/track deck/cue/set/store hot cue/ set value

Looks like ya got it sussed
