Hercules 4MX controller. Give your opinions and help answer questions
I’m thinking about getting a near new Hercules 4MX controller off of a friend.
Ive currently got an S4 and a MF. I want the 4MX to use on my desktop computer but for nothing else, it wouldn’t even leave my room.
My plan is to use the 4MX with the Traktor pro s4 software, is this possible?
I want to do this so that I dont have to plug my s4 into my desktop, so that I can leave it in my music room with my laptop, edit my songs and add cue points, save them to an external hard drive and then when I need to take those tunes with the saved cue points, i’d be able to use them with my laptop on the S4 + MF by simply moving the external hard drive.
To simplify my question: Can I use a Hercules 4MX with the Traktor Pro S4 software on my pc and if so, would I need anything elce other than a USB cable and power point.
I don’t think you can, you need the S4 connected to your computer to even use the software as far as I’ve heard. But the beauty is that this problem will solve itself when TP2 comes out and you’ll get a free upgrade as S4-owner. Then it would be possible yes.
I use my laptop with my midi fighter on the S4 software without the S4 all the time, I just change the settings to output the laptop speakers so your post didnt answer anything.
Im wondering if I can just map the 4MX with a .tsi file like my midi fighter off of the Traktor pro S4 software, I’ll be asking the same question when I get the TP2 software.
I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear, but if I’m correct, Traktor S4 doesn’t have any MIDI mapping functionality. This’ll come when Traktor Pro 2 is released, then you’ll have one piece of software for both powering your S4 and the 4MX. That’s what I meant to say.
You can be sure that you’ll be able to use the 4MX in Traktor 2 Pro because one could simply map it through MIDI. And Hercules has a good reputation on delivering nice mappings for their products.
I think S4 does have Midi mapping capability. Isn’t that how DJTT made their own S4 mapping? Like if you hold Shift+Browse you enter into Midi mode and you can map anything to anything.
traktor s4 has midi mapping functionality and can be used without the s4 completely.
People, in future if your not sure about the information your providing, dont say anything.
Really the first time in my long forum-carreer (elsewhere counted) that I’ve been accused of trolling, but I can see why. My apologies, I’ve received my S4 just yesterday, but have been reading about it even before it’s launch and took some “rumors” or perhaps even trolls from others as facts while they were wrong.
I’ve always assumed the S4 software was a cut-back version of the Pro version, but I’ve been playing with it al yesterday evening and it seems to have all the same functions, plus some extra’s. But I guess you’ve got your questions answered already.
Again, I apologize, I was only trying to help since there weren’t coming many responses to your questions at first.
If you didnt mean to and simply got rumor cross with fact then thats ok, I’ve done the same myself before.
Ive now got the Hercules 4-Mx and I’m looking for a mapping I can upload for it into the Traktor pro s4 software.
If anyone would be able to link me to a mapping file I can download that would be hugely appreciated, I’ve been searching for ages and cant find anything.
I’m sure you’re going to have to make your own mapping since the s4 is mapped specifically for the s4 software. Especially with the loop banks option on the new software. Definitely possible for the Hercules though.
I just dont know how to do it, If I could load a template (.ncks4) into the Native Instruments controller editor I’d be able to give it a shot but I dont know how to map in Traktor.
Even Virtual Dj’s mapping is simpler than this. Key-learn and Action-learn. How am I meant to know what the numbers correspond to in the Traktor mapping.
WORKS PERFECTLY with the S4 edition software!!! Hahaha I’m so happy I’ve finally got my 3 controllers all working under the same copy of Traktor Pro S4.
