Hi Im Shy's Setup Progression

Hi Im Shy’s Setup Progression

It always pains me to see how much time I’ve wasted by not knowing what direction I wanted to take and how to get there. You luck out if you have friends with setups that you can demo otherwise it’s just this long process of trial and error. Having noodled over the last 2 years with Traktor, Serato, Mixvibes, and Ableton I’m glad to say my setup has finally been put into stone.

My first setup = Stanton STR-150’s + Kontrol Z2 + Maschine + MIDI Fighter

Moving towards mixing in Ableton = KRK Rokit 8’s + APC40 + Vestax VCI-400 + Launchpad Mini

Moving towards production in Ableton

Final Production = KRK Rokit 8’s + Komplete Audio 6 + Ableton Push + Maschine

Final Mixing = Vestax VCI-400 + Launchpad Mini + Gerbil

I like how you refer to “final” setups like there is such a thing.

whats in the tannnnkkkk?

Hahah  well final in that I don’t suffer from gear lust or being unhappy with my setup. The only thing I would like at this point is a better chair and maybe a few analog synths

Stewart the Gerbil!

You should get some pads for under your speakers.

I’m also curious to know what critter(s) are in the tank.

and then…

So, how do you like having push and maschine…isn’t it a bit redundant?

Whats good with those Stanton 150s? If you dont want them anymore you might have a buyer right here

Str8-150 and easily the greatest turntable ever made. WHy are they in a box?>>>??? >:disappointed:

I am with him on this one, le wtf! :stuck_out_tongue:. Used to have those TT’s they’re heavy as hell but such a nice table.

Probably the same reason my 1200s are…he just doesn’t want to use them.

^^ good luck finding the original packaging box for a 1200 tho :stuck_out_tongue:

Hah I actually just mix in Ableton now and while I LOVE those Stantons they are a beast to move around to just mix with a few friends. I’m actually selling that entire setup 2 x Str8.150’s and a NI Z2 Mixer. I just can’t list on the for sale thread here yet. Funnily enough that setups weight has completely warped the left side of my table. 100lbs of gear in one spot will do that I guess :open_mouth:.

Not at all. I usually grab samples from the Maschine library and the on board screens helps me blitz through that as fast as possible. I use the Maschine pads to program drums (the push’s 4x4 pads are just too small for me), the Push’s pads for melody and then I midi map the Maschine to whatever knobs I think sound cool and twist away. They work perfect together honestly.

Nice set up!

The Stanton’s are great tables I had a pair about 2 years ago. I can definitely understand not wanting to use them if you are moving them around allot and not spinning real vinyl, they feel like (and actually are) big slabs of metal.

Wow shy thats some impressive progression pics. Ive always been impressed with the VCI-400 since I got my first real controller and Im still loving it. If your progression is anything like Im going through God help me lol.

It’s hard when you don’t have friends around to try out gear especially when you first start. Hard and expensive!

Str8-150 are great turntables, nice set-up btw.
