The best bass heavy hip hop will always be Miami bass. Two Live Crew, Poison Clan, Maggatron, and others. Some groups used to put warnings that major speaker damage may occur, on their records. Most Two Live crew records still get great reactions on the dance floor
many thanks .. i will check them out
Don’t know about bass heavy - but for absolute classic, old style block party hip-hop check out Ugly Duckling. 2 MCs, 1 DJ and a whole lot of funky ass samples.
(P.S - they’re 3 white dudes…)
ahhh meat shake ![]()
open to not none bass heavy .. not to sure why i put that. Its more about some hip hop that aint about drugs money and killin cops blah blah blah
cheers

Cool Kids
Kidz in the Hall
these guys are dope. hot new shit with a throwback to the oldschool styles… tight beats and lyrics about fun stuff.
It ain’t exactly bass heavy but Q-Tip’s (Of A Tribe Called Quest) new record The Renaissance is full of that old school smooth sound. Try some Jurassic 5 aswell for an older less bling sound!
Two Live Crew (Move Sum’tin’), King Tee(Bass).
Now THAT brings back memories!
Ah, and lest not forget EPMD and Redman (Muddy Waters).
Muddy Waters is still amongst my top 3 of all time faves!
(And that Intro… fuck, you’ll crack even the mightiest of mighty basstraps/subwoofers!)
Props for A Tribe Called Quest, that just puts me in a relax groove.
I think the above selections are spot on. Here are a few others that may help…MC Breed..“Ain’t No Future In Yo Frontin”(old school), Common(take your pick), Swollen Members(ditto), Gangstarr, Beatnuts. man…I could go on for days. Old School? Underground? or just club bangers?(minus the killin’) Bass heavy is most of hip hop.
What about strippers and weed?
@BodegaBrad
Nice, gotta tell ya, I only know Breed from “I ain’t to be flexed with”
shoot just look for some miami bass stuff
Miami bass idd, it’s not a legend because of nothing. ![]()
Are you kidding Tekki??? j/k …Frontin’ was Breed’s first cut that put him on the “map”. Best song he has ever had…way before him an 2Pac. Haha. I only know this cause I’m from Michigan(like him). Sadly, he died 2 months ago. You and I, and anyone else, need to discuss this here hip-hop game
You saw the vinyl…they are mostly all hip hop records.
I wish Miami was still puttin’ them out like they used to.. Officer Rick Ross kinda ruins it all. Where is Luke when u need him? Poison Clan? Somebody?..although, I like Pitbull.
Is DJ Magic Mike now going under the name FloRida?..sorry…way off topic.
If you’re looking for something more low key check out Heiroglyphics, Jedi Mind Tricks, Jurassic 5, Cypher Linguistics, anyone from the Wu-Tang Clan, and Common. An up and comer that I’ve been pushing is the Elevaters- more of a Roots sound but easy to drop with Rock, DnB, Big Beat, and of course Hip Hop.
Im not much of a Hip Hop Fan, but I was right into “Lyrics Born” a few years ago. ( may have spelt his name wrong )
His Albumb “later that day was pretty cool”
He was also has another track made famous by one of his collaberations titled “i cahnged My mind”
plenty off stuff on youtube.
No rapping about killing people.
Coby cestnutt- the colaberation he did with the roots “the seed” is another cool track. I frequent a club that regulary plays hip hop, ive heard the DJ drop that song a few times and everyone seems to enjoy it regardless of wether they no it or not.
Yo B, gotta tell ya man…
For me, 2Pac was cool when he was just starting out, freestyling for Digital Underground, rhymin’in the words for “I gets around”, after that I had a overdramatic feel to his work.
I somehow did not dig it. (Though his work as a a Humpty Hump dancer, Do me babyyyyyyyy, was hilarious!
)
But getting back on Breed, yeah, it’s bad that a kidney faillure got the best of him. RIP.
