Hotcue issues with TSP 1.2.7 - HELP Please.

Due to recent USB drop out issues, I reloaded my TSP to my laptop. Now I am attempting to grid and set hotcues for my music (some new music, some frequently used from before the reload). But when I press any of the hotcues to set its position, the blue-ish flag does not stay nor do I have access to the drop down menu to set the cue to represent a load point, loop, hotcue, etc. I deleted all of my .tsi files I had loaded (the DJTT Dicer .tsi to be specific) and went through the Preferences to see if I had mistakenly checked a box that I maybe shouldn’t have. Still, nothing I do allows me to set or access the drop down menus in the Advanced portion of each deck.

Is this a known glitch in the upgrade? What would disable the hotcues? I use the vinyl control to scratch during my sets, so not being able to use my hotcues at all is a big problem knowing I have a gig on March 26th. Please help.

Can you not just press the little tiny arrow on the bottom left right hand corner of the deck then click on the cue tab on the left?

It would help if you could upload some screenshots to illustrate the problem.

  1. are you still able to jump using your keyboard?

  2. are you using 4 effects banks? if not, try using 4 and see if the dicers work now.

  3. the djtt dicer mapping is notorious for being a pain to import. i think you need to let it import the GUI and effects settings (if thats an option). if you do this make sure you take note of your GUI settings so you can put them back.

Here’s a screen shot of Deck A, but it really doesn’t tell much of a story. But I’ll try to clarify what happens step by step.

  • I open the arrow to expand the area where the grid and hotcues would be set to have saved.
  • Drag and drop my track I that I want the cue points to be created into either Deck A or B as normal.
  • Then I select either the Cue or Grid button at the lower left of the deck.
  • When I click on any Hotcue button, the numbered blue marker pops up as if the cue was going to be set on that point of the track, but goes away just as quickly.
  • When I click on the down arrow on the drop down menu to select the type of cue point will be set on that point of the track above hotcues 5, 6, 7, and 8 the drop down menu does not expose any of the selections available.
  • Alternatively, if I click on the Grid button to manage how the grid is set, it will not allow me to set the grid, trash can a pre-set grid, auto set a grid etc. Just as noted above, it flashes the function it is meant to do for a split second and clears itself.

Could this be coming from my TSP’s History or maybe the Dicer settings?

invalid link mate, you need to leave it attached to the post.

That is strange, I know I keep asking for you to upload stuff but if you have the ability to post a short video that could help.

It’s not one I’ve heard of before, I think Karlos Santos migt be the man.

I dont know of this issue. Maybe just as well to back up and reinstall Traktor.

Ill have a dig about and try to find something that will help.

He’s on the case…

If you remove the dicer mapping do the cues work? That would narrow that out of the equation.

…and so is Ninjojo…

+1

I’m still in the process of finding a good screen recorder that will capture exactly what is going on along with registering where and when the mouse clicks are happening, but so far I’m not getting any decent results. I may need to whip out my HD Flip cam to record this issue as best I can. Sorry about the dead pic link, BTW.

I removed the .tsi for my Dicers and tried again to remove that from the equation. Whether the Dicer control was there or not, it had no effect either way. Although, I noticed that on occasion I would need to reload the Dicer .tsi anyway because TSP was registering the MIDI input from the Dicers, but nothing actually triggered. Of course, that could be cause for a whole new thread and could totally be unrelated to my Hotcue glitch.

I’d been getting sidetracked preparing for that gig last Saturday and editing my new demo for a DJ battle coming up, so I hadn’t had time to sit and troubleshoot this lately. Nor have I attempted to uninstall/reinstall TSP either. Truth is, I currently don’t recall where I put the install disc so I was sorta trying to use that as a last resort. (I know. I know. “B-Naut, I think you should start digging up that install disc.” …which I intend to do soon.)

Meanwhile, any word from the experts about this? (COUGH COUGH I’m looking your direction, Fullenglishpint and Ninjojo.)

Does this happen with keyboard commands as well?

Good question. I don’t use the key commands, so I never tried. Let me get back to you on that. At the moment, I am running late to the dayjob virus.

Ok. Update:

I upgraded to Traktor Scratch Pro 2 primarily to find out if this would fix the Hotcue / Gridding issue. The result? No, the T2 upgrade did nothing.

Then I reverted back to my TSP 1.2.7 to see if I could find any similar variables between before and after the T2 upgrade. So, I removed the DJTT Dicer .tsi from the controller mapping on both versions. This seemed to allow me to use the Hotcue and Grid functions as normal.

(Note to moderator: Since the root of the problem is actually the DJTT Dicer Mapping, feel free to move this thread as you see fit.)

Now that I know it was the Dicer map that disabled the track gridding and hotcue set functions, I reinstalled the DJTT Dicer .tsi on both TSP versions a few times to see what would happen. My Dicers now seem to have the incorrect effect and roll functions for the yellow and green modes. Example: Press the yellow button to activate the preset effect mode. Play a track (in either TSP 1.2.7 or T2) and it no longer activates the Delay/Iceverb echo effect. Instead it slows down the track to half speed and sounds like it stretches out the audio, much like the Bouncer effect in T2 does. Sometimes the hotcues do nothing when the red section is lit. Sometimes the Loop / Roll green mode won’t work either. Sometimes the Dicers won’t do anything at all, despite the software indicating it is receiving MIDI info because the CTRL indicator lights up at the top of the window.

I need help ASAP getting my Hotcues to set and save correctly, my tracks need gridded - both without having to load and delete my Dicers over and over. I need my Dicers to function consistently the way they used to with the correct effects, loop patterns, and cue points to light up and trigger when they should. My DJ battle is in 4 days and counting. I NEED this to work and be consistent. I would prefer a fix to be found using TSP2 if possible. I wouldn’t be in a panic about this if it weren’t for the competition.

Please help.

Can you check the modifier settings? See what the numbers do? There might be a ton of overlap going on.

just a heads up, i also noticed with the TP2 demo that the effects, like #4 on the 3rd layer are stupid. like the gater turns on

the map just needs to be updated or something

Pardon my ignorance, but I find setting my own mappings in any version of Traktor to be confusing to begin with. Even though I consider myself to be very tech savvy, I’d be more inclined to do the troubleshooting as you asked me to do if I knew WTF I was doing. I even tried the tutorials in Traktor Bible and watched Ean’s tutorial videos to clear up how to program my controllers. I can never get the results I want or grasp what command is to do what when.

Could you offer a step by step “MIDI Mapping For Dummies” version of what I need to look for and change? If not, at least point me to a longer and more spelled out tutorial.

i have no clue where such an explanation would be. im still using tp1 w/ my dicers

sooo…is there such an explanation for TSP 1.2.7 users??? my thinking is, if there is a correction for the Dicer .tsi file that can be done in TSP 1.2.7, then that same correction may also work well (with or without minor tweaks) in T2.

i might be missing your point. but im assuming you got it to wirk with .7 right?

the problem is thhat some of the settings for parameters and stuff got messed up.

im sure you can fix it, but i really dont know how. i only messed with the tp2 demo
