How can guys with serato criticize traktor users?

How can guys with serato criticize traktor users?

Isn’t it a bit hypocritical for guys using serato to criticize traktor users for not beatmatching when all they have to do is line up the visual markers? Is there something magical about lining up two waveforms visually that I am misunderstanding?

Lol I was given the same treatment by the resident dj at my last gig. He chuckled and mumbled something about “sync”. I Just laughed it off. when they fall of the high horse they will fall hard

hah yeah, I all ways wondered about that, then I learned to use Serato, and the answer is - no skill, just a bit more time.

The only skill is knowing where to put the pitch fader based on the the tempo of the two tracks and that is just basic math at the end of the day…

In all honesty, unless you’re using the technology to it’s full potential, doing traditional DJ’ing on ANY digital system - regardless of brand - is a brain dead effort. Even on turntables or CDJ’s, it was still a minimal effort task, most people only thought it was hard because they didn’t practice hard enough.

beatmatching is easy as fuck, analogue or digital.

Dinosaurs … Don’t sweat it guys.

Re: How can guys with serato criticize traktor users?

Let’s see what they say when they use ableton to edit there sets

Fuckin SNAP! lmao

they’re mad they paid ~$200 more for an inferior DVS system :sunglasses:

I have been thinking exactly the same.

Check this out:

Yeah we have sync with Traktor, but that just gives us more time to mess about with effects and more cue points.
As I’ve been saying a lot recently, it doesn’t matter what you use as long as the crowd love it.

Serato is aimed at “purists”, that’s they’re whole selling point.

If serato wanted to add a sync button they could do it in 2 seconds flat. they got one on Itch right?

The reason they don’t add a sync button is cause the people that buy serato want to be knob heads about the fact they might be digital, but they’re still purists.

Hence they’re so smug about it. They are just falling in line with Seratos marketing and are their total target audience.

I am generalising of course.

Some people make they’re choice about serato over traktor for other, what they believe to be “valid” reasons (ie stability, scratching tightness, industry standard). Not that i agree with those reasons either.

Personally, although i use traktor and a vci, I like serato, i used to have it.

I even enjoy beatmatching using vinyl. I don’t think it’s hard though… i just quite enjoy it.

When i play out / make a mix tape… it sounds almost exactly the same either on serato or traktor.

Phat tunes mixed well.

Although with traktor i have the freedom to add more spice - fx, beat juggling, 4 decks etc

I totally agree.
Also: you don’t have to sync in traktor, it is not mandatory. I like to put the songs straight myself.
It’s odd to put 2 songs on, go to the little girls room, come back and both records are still in sync

Its easy, they just do it :stuck_out_tongue:

For some reason this reminds me of DJ hero!? :stuck_out_tongue:

so many generalizations so little time…

it doesn’t take much to hop on a bandwagon, but come on the stuff you guys are writing compartmentalizing serato users isn’t much different then what they are supposedly doing to traktor users.

there should be more to this then throwing around marketing one-liners, but that’s just my opinion.

All i know is that Serato SSL 2.0 has a gazillion features copied right out of Traktor.

Make no mistake ‘some’ SSL users have been pissing in their pants about Traktors Sync and FX for years. Now most of those features are gonna be in SSL 2.0. So what are they gonna do? Ignore them, not use them. They will have to upgrade some day cus they will get left behind maybe 1.9 will even be not supported or discontinued like Traktor 1 , 2 & 3.

They cant say shit anymore cus Serato has deemed that SSL needs to have these features so the some of the user base has been ignored just in the way that us Traktor users have been ignoring them.

I know some SSL guys and they are cool with Traktor especially when they see what can be done with it.

Its just some dinosaurs, they wont ever change. Well boys the Meteor is coming and your gonna get wiped out..!

the new library view in SSL should be a nice place for the dinos to feel comfortable in 2.0

I’m not sure i understand the need for a company to support the earliest versions of their software when they are giving all the updates away for free. older versions are still available.for download for reg users.

thanks for not stereotyping all SSL users karlos, we exist on this forum, some of us even have other digital setups, so we don’t pre-judge someone for going a different route then SSL.

not saying this about your quote, but in general, it bugs me when i see this (IMO) marketing produced xenophobia. it creates these false dichotomies…

apple OR windows, bmw OR benz, traktor OR SSL, under OR over:wink:, etc.

a rigid way of thinking that the way you are doing things must be better, the other side must not know what they are doing, it leads to digital genocide be warned!

perhaps ableton was sent to bring us all together before it was too late…

I agree there is nothing more boring that the Serato Vs Traktor discussion (apart from Mac VS PC).

I have never had a bad thing to say about SSL. I think it is an outstanding piece of software that changed DJing forever.

You know we have our Traktor dinosaurs as well. There are guys that refuse to budge of T3. Some for workflow reasons that i understand and others for less honest reason (basically spitting their dummies out). Hell Steve Boyett is still on T2.6 (i think) and he still rocks it.
I guess you use what your comfortable with but never , never slag anyone just cus you dont like what they use.

I think that minority of SSL users that have always slagged Traktor will always do it. I for one would not lump all SSL users into one pot just like SSL users should not call all Traktor users Microwave DJs.

“Traktor and Serato sitting in a tree K.I… you know the rest”

Dunno about the rest of you, but I’d love to see that baby.
