I DJ two nights a week (Tonight and tomorrow) and I’m sat here wide awake, unable to sleep at 5:30 AM, after being home since 4:30. I work a 9 to 5 job in the week so surely I should be absolutely shattered by now, but instead I find myself itching to make more mixes (even though I’ve just been doing it for 4 hours straight) until my body literally drops.
Anyone have any tips on getting some shut eye after a gig?
I usually come home and the first thing I do is wash off the club funk. Afterwards, make a cup of hot herbal tea (the fancier the better). I don’t listen to music afterwards because the ear fatigue has really set in by the time I get home. A little herbal tea and a little reading in bed go a long way to calm me down.
Yeah, it’s tough. I’m usually pretty exhausted, physically, when I’m done playing so if I can somehow skip out, sleep will come pretty easily. If I stick around and hang out with people, that usually means a late night out and in bed by around 8am.
